The National Executive of the All Progressives Congress, APC led by its Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda on Tuesday evening met with Oyo State Executives of the party in Abuja to discuss ways of achieving electoral victory for the party and all its candidates come 2027 general elections.

Sources obtained by OyoInsight confirmed the development and noted that the meeting centered on the consensus approach adopted in Lagos that produced Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat as guber candidate and Ogun State that produced Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi.


It was also learnt that party executives may have been informed about the consensus candidates for all the elective positions for next year’s election in the state.

FreshPage observed that no fewer than 11 gubernatorial aspirants obtained APC Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms worth N50million. This online medium observed that no fewer than two aspirants for bought Senatorial Nomination Form and House of Representatives Nomination Form. The same thing played out for House of Assembly aspirants.

In Oyo Central alone, four Senatorial aspirants; Senator Yunus Akintunde, Engr Faozey Oladotun Nurudeen, Hon. Wasiu Olabanji and Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete bought Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms worth N80m.

Oyo State chapter of the APC contributed over N1Billion to the national purse of the APC. The novel decision of the party contrary to what has been going out that the party will adopt direct primaries for all its candidates to emerge for 2027 general elections.

The meeting which took place in Abuja was attended by Moses Alake Adeyemo (chairman), Fatai Adesina Adeniyi (secretary), Lamidi Taofeek (Vice chairman), Olawale Sadare (publicity secretary), Aderemi Adepoju ( organizing secretary), Sunday Aborisade (legal adviser), Adekemi Opatunde (woman leader), Olalekan Oladejo, youth leader), Joshua Oyebamiji, senatorial chairman (Oyo Central), Tunde Oloyede, senatorial chairman (Oyo North), Sunday Babalola (welfare secretary), Joseph Omoniyi (chairman of local government chairmen) and Mojeed Adebayo (senatorial chairman (Oyo South).
