I am particularly happy that more and more citizens of Oyo state are joining the advocacy to rid our state of the evil which the Government of Seyi Makinde represents since 2019.

I saw some videos of what our Local Governments have become under the Makinde Administration some days ago and I almost wept.
Those videos were posted by some young, energetic, but vibrant Youths.
They are doing well. I must also give kudos to a young man, by the name of Ishola.
These gentlemen are corroborating what we have been saying over the years. They are using pictures and videos to provide incontrovertible evidence and once again, kudos to them.
I saw extremely disturbing videos and pictures of a Local Government at Saki. The place is completely abandoned, but, that is the case almost everywhere.
Governor Seyi Makinde has completely killed the Local Governments.
I have another very disturbing information concerning another Local Government in Oyo state, Iwajowa Local Government.

I was reliably informed that the Local Government Chairman has been selling every assets of the Council at very ridiculous amounts and the most disturbing part of the story is that he’s been the one buying most of the assets!
He is alleged to have bought the Tractor of the Local Government at the very ridiculous amount of 500 thousand Naira.
He even refused to let go of the plough when they informed him that the plough is always detached and sold separately.
The reckless fellow is also alleged to have been selling Local Government assets to Councilors and Supervisory Councilors.
I was informed that he also sold Motorcycles for a ridiculous amount of 20,000 Naira. Even his Personal Assistants are alleged to have been benefitting from his recklessness.
The Mikano generator belonging to the Local Government has also been sold, even though, there is nothing wrong with the generator, except that the Local Government has two.
Iwajowa Local Government is not doing this things in isolation and I have said it before now, a fish begins to rot from the head.
Like Chinua Achebe once said, when mother cow eats grass, its calf studies its mouth. The Local Government Chairmen are copying Governor Makinde and I think the regular media has so much to do here.
Many of them have been lining up series of political programs, including political debates towards the 2027 general election. Beautiful, but, the regular media, just like social media influencers should also dig deep into the sorry state of our Local Governments.
They should ensure that discussions are generally centered on how the 33 Local Governments have feared under Governor Seyi Makinde since 2019.
In every human endeavor, you can only drive development from the bottom.
The Local Governments are the tier of Government at the bottom of the ladder within our Federating units.
If they are not developed all these years, if they have become desolate and abandoned, can we really say that Governor Seyi Makinde has performed well as a Governor?
The narratives, moving forward, should not be centered on semantics. We have to be factual and like I have always been saying, the Media will do so much to convince us before we surrender the responsibility of shaping the narratives that will determine the 2027 election to them.
If the media does otherwise, we already have our destiny in our own hands and we will not surrender it to anyone who is not desirable of it.
What we grew up to know with our elders is that if a deity is incapable of making things better for someone, it should at least not make it worse. ( Oosa bo le gbe mi, se mi no se ba mi).
Governor Makinde inherited Tractors, excavators, Borehole drilling machines, refuse trucks and Graders in the 33 Local Governments.
These assets were left by successive Administrations and unfortunately, under his watch, these assets have been sold to cronies at very ridiculous prices.
The most unfortunate part is that no replacements were provided by the Makinde Administration!
You now begin to ask, why won’t the Local Governments sell inherited assets? Is Governor Makinde not selling state assets?
This recklessness is the more reason why every citizens of Oyo state should be against the ill-conceived Local Government election slated for December 29, 2026.
I can assure the 33 Local Government Chairmen that they will account for everything they stole, either directly or indirectly.
Once again, I am appealing to the regular media to rise to the occasion. We can not leave social media influencers to this Advocacy.
The time has come for the Media to demand accountability directly from the Local Government Chairmen and when I say this, I mean, real accountability, not a cosmetic one.
Sola Abegunde.
