Following the agreement reached with the organized Labour about the minimum wage few days ago, President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a National Minimum Wage Bill to the Senate.
Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, has read the covering letter of the bill to senators in the Red Chamber in Abuja.
Tinubu stated that the bill aims to prescribe a national minimum wage and provide the legal framework for a seamless review of the national minimum wage. The bill was immediately committed to the Committee of the Whole for expeditious consideration by senators.
FRESHPAGE gathered that when signed into law, the new minimum wage is expected to take effect from April 2024 meaning workers will be paid arrears of their increase from this period.
