As 2027 general elections draw closer, Governor Seyi Makinde has finally jumped down the drain of political oblivion in his dead presidential bid.

His embarrassing outing in Akure, Ondo State where he gathered his stooge Bimbo Adekanmbi and a few rented crowd for a jamboree disguised as a political declaration, is a clear sign that the Governor has lost touch with reality.
What was that show of shame in Akure? A governor who should be in Oyo State addressing, unpaid gratuities, failed roads and insecurity. He abandoned his duty post to go and waste Oyo State resources on a dead-on-arrival presidential ambition that even toddlers in politics know it’s a joke.
Makinde was jumping, dancing and jesting around in Akure like a kindergarten pupil, with his puppet Bimbo Adekanmbi beside him. It was a circus. It was a shame gallivanting in Ondo State where President Bola Tinubu has one of the best performing Ministers; Bunmi Tunji-Ojo among others. It was a display of absolute emptiness.
The question every reasonable Oyo indigene should ask Governor Makinde is; Will he ask his father to jump as he did in Akure? He is playing politics too far.
At President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s age, his achievements in politics, business, governance and nation-building are monumental and unmatched. He built Lagos, built men, built a national movement and became President.
What has Makinde built? Where is his father known? What is his political pedigree? Who knows his father in the political history of Oyo State or Nigeria?
Is his father even known beyond being a Primary School Teacher and later turned banker with low achievements. Can Makinde point to any legacy of his family that contributed to Oyo State’s development beyond alleged extension of land acquired through his late father in Ajia community, Ona-Ara LG? Time is ticking, the rightful owners of the land will get their land back from the grabber.
Tinubu at Makinde’s age had already defined progressive politics in Nigeria. Makinde at his age has only defined Akotileta politics — buying, selling, wasting and sharing Oyo’s commonwealth.
It only shows one thing: Makinde has absolutely nothing to offer Oyo State again. He is empty. He is out of ideas. He has resorted to jesting around the South-West, wasting Oyo taxpayers’ money on a presidential ambition that is dead on arrival.
Oyo people have seen through the comedy. The same man who sold tractors bought by late Ajimobi as scrap now wants to sell a dummy presidential ambition to Nigerians. Who will buy it?
From Ibadan to Akure, the message is clear — Makinde and his stooge Bimbo Adekanmbi have jumped into political oblivion. And no amount of jumping in Akure will rescue them from the imminent defeat awaiting them in Oyo State.
Oyo State deserves serious leadership, not a dancing Akotileta and his puppet on a jamboree tour.
