A 19-year-old woman, Aisha Musa, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command, over the alleged poisoning of her husband barely six weeks after their wedding in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area of the state.

According the Nation, police said the incident occurred on August 12, 2026, when the suspect allegedly mixed a poisonous substance into a meal prepared for her husband, leaving him critically ill.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that the police received a distress call at about 7:40 p.m. from a female resident of the Wunti Dada area.
He said officers attached to the C Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, were immediately mobilised to the village, where they found the victim in distress.
The husband was subsequently taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, for emergency treatment and is currently in stable condition, according to the police.
Habib stated that the suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident and allegedly admitted to administering the substance during interrogation after being cautioned.
He added that investigators recovered an empty bottle believed to have contained the poison, along with leftover portions of the suspected contaminated food, which have been retained as exhibits.
The State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a detailed investigation.
