Every election presents an opportunity to reflect not only on who has occupied a position, but on what the people need for the next chapter. In Oyo Federal Constituency, that conversation is becoming increasingly important as Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, the incumbent Federal Representative, and Barrister Temilolu Seun Nurudeen Ashamu, a former Commissioner in the Oyo State Government, emerge as key contenders.

Hon. Seun Ashamu

But beyond the names and political platforms, there is something different about Barrister Seun Ashamu. He represents the taste and aspiration of a new generation of leadership , young, bold, intellectually sound, energetic and exposed to the wider world. His approach reflects a generation that wants leadership to be more innovative, accessible and deliberate about creating opportunities for young people.

Ashamu’s experience in government is also an important part of his story. During his time as Commissioner, he was not merely concerned with occupying an office; according to his supporters, he used his position to recommend and support many Oyo indigenes for political appointments, with about 90 percent of those he recommended reportedly coming from Oyo. He also played roles in facilitating employment opportunities and supporting youth empowerment, demonstrating a belief that government should create pathways for people to become economically and socially productive.

This is why the Ashamu proposition goes beyond simply replacing one representative with another. It is about bringing executive experience, youthful energy, intellectual capacity and international exposure into federal representation. It is about having a representative who understands the corridors of government but also understands the aspirations of young Nigerians who are looking for opportunities, not excuses.

The people of Oyo Federal Constituency will ultimately make the decision. But as they consider the choices before them, they may want to ask themselves a simple question: Do we want representation that merely occupies a seat, or representation that brings a new generation’s energy, ideas and possibilities to that seat?

For those who believe Oyo Federal Constituency deserves fresh energy, bold thinking, competent representation and greater opportunities for its people, Barrister Seun Ashamu presents himself as a compelling choice.
