The Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, on Wednesday embarked on a monitoring exercise to assess the conduct Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) in the ongoing 2026 WASSCE and ensure compliance with the guidelines set by the examination body.

The Commissioner visited four schools in Ibadan; Anglican Commercial Grammar School, Orita-Mefa, Ibadan, Baptist Model College, Orita-Mefa, Ibadan, C.A.C Grammar School, Aperin, Ibadan and Government Secondary School, Orita-Aperin, Ibadan, where he interacted with school principals, supervisors, invigilators, and candidates. He expressed satisfaction with the level of organization, punctuality of officials, and the orderly conduct of students during the examination.

Olayiwola commended teachers and school administrators for their commitment to maintaining high standards in the education sector. He reiterated the state government’s determination to provide a conducive learning environment and promote academic excellence in all public and private schools.

During the inspection, the Commissioner urged candidates to remain focused, avoid all forms of examination malpractice, and uphold integrity throughout the examination period. He noted that success achieved through hard work and dedication remains the most rewarding and sustainable.

The Commissioner also assured stakeholders that the Ministry of Education would continue to collaborate with relevant agencies to guarantee smooth conduct of public examinations across the state.

He emphasized that Governor Seyi Makinde’s investments in infrastructure and human capital development has significantly improved teaching and learning outcomes in Oyo State. He assured everyone that the state will overcome current security challenges and secure the release of abducted teachers and students in Ahoro-Esinele and Yawota community, Oriire LGA.

Parents and guardians were encouraged to continue supporting their children by providing the necessary moral and academic guidance needed for success. Dr. Olayiwola expressed confidence that Oyo State students would excel in the ongoing examination and make the state proud through outstanding performances.
