Ibadanland paused to celebrate* *one of its finest, Chief Mrs. Olufunke Ayegbayo on her special day. That was yesterday, Wednesday the 15th of July, 2026 It was more than a birthday. It was a celebration of substance, service and a life devoted to the growth and unity of our cherished fatherland.
Chief Mrs Ayegbayo is an amazon of remarkable grace. As the distinguished former Social Secretary of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) for two terms (2009-2011) and 2011-2013), her tenure was defined by one word: dedication. For community service recognition, she is Otun Iyalode Alegongo, Akobo, Ibadan.
She brought warmth to every gathering, humility to every office and an accommodating spirit that made the CCII family feel like home. Those who worked with her remember not just her efficiency, but her sincerity. Her readiness to support worthy causes, her friendliness across age groups and her quiet but firm commitment to excellence are commendable. I hereby commend you!
She is a woman of intelligence, diligence, vibrancy, decency and courage. Calm in disposition, yet resolute in purpose. She possesses the rare wisdom of someone who understands community dynamics and still chooses to serve with an open heart.
Chief Mrs Ayegbayo’s love for Ibadanland is not in slogans. It is in action. It is in the time she has given, the knowledge she actioned and the resources she has invested in the continuous progress, unity shared and enable development of our city.
For over two decades, since 2003, when our paths crossed when I served as the Acting National Secretary (2003-2005) and later National PRO (2007-2009), she has stood shoulder to shoulder with her agemates and elders in CCII, building programmes, mentoring younger ones and upholding the values that make Ibadanland great. Omoluabi ni! She embodies the Ibadan ethos of integrity, respect and community.
Married to Bro. Jazzy Aye of blessed memory, she has also shown that service and family can walk and work together, raising a home that reflects the same values she promotes in public life.
Her exemplary leadership and selfless commitment continue to inspire the younger generation. In a time when many seek titles, she chose impact. In a time when many seek applause, she chose duty.
Because of women like Chief Mrs Ayegbayo, Ibadanland still have living ambassadors of our cultural heritage, people who remind us that patriotism is about showing up, again and again, for your people.
On this glorious special day, I do not just mark another year. I celebrate a life of meaningful impact, integrity and invaluable service to humanity.
May the Almighty God bless Chief Mrs Olufunke Ayegbayo with sound health, abundant joy, divine protection and renewed strength. May her new age bring greater accomplishments, a long life in peace,and the fulfillment of all her heart’s desires. May her path continue to shine brighter, and may her days be filled with honour, favour and everlasting happiness.
