I remember saying in 2025 that if we are not careful, by the time Governor Seyi Makinde leaves office on the 29th of May, 2027, both the Oyo state Government House and the Secretariat might have been sold by him.

I came under very serious attacks from Governor Makinde’s lickspittles at the time but interestingly, even the attack dogs have become extremely weakened and exhausted because Governor Makinde keeps vindicating my positions on a daily basis through the policies of his administration.
I can conveniently confirm that the war that is currently raging inside of the Oyo State Governor would be second only to Armageddon. I have kept saying this for a long time, there is nothing spectacular about Governor Makinde, but not a lot of people took me serious until recently.
The Oyo State Governor is a very lucky man, no doubts, but he is not a strong personality and neither is anything spectacular about him and that is why, like a Prophet, I was able to predict, step by step, how and when his political career would enter the ditch.
Unknown to many, Governor Makinde is a very weak man. You are not a strong man, just because you talk tough. You could only be considered strong when you are perceived as someone who is in control of his emotions. A good Leader can not afford to be stubborn, egocentric and arrogant.
You are not a good leader just because you refuse to show weakness. Sometimes, it is even better to pretend to be weak so as to be stronger. Most of all, a strong man must be in control of his tongue. Know when to keep quiet and learn when to talk less.
With due respect to the Oyo State Governor, in my view, he lacks these attributes and most of the times I was right in predicting his moves correctly, it is only because I capitalized on those weaknesses of His Excellency.
I have also been trying to understand the rationale behind Governor Makinde’s penchant for betrayals. That is another big minus for him and I think the fact that he got lucky to be elected twice as Governor, actually blinded his reasoning in this regard.
I think he got to a point where he believed that human beings are mere trash. Pick them and use them when you need them and throw them away when you no longer have need for them.
When he succeeded in buying over a few greedy politicians from the opposition, to join with him last year, a friend of mine became worried and was saying that he would easily have his way with Omi Tuntun 3.0.
I told him bluntly and I predicted correctly, that, by this time, a lot of prominent politicians would be exiting the Governor’s Camp to join the opposition. It’s been a long time since I heard from those who were deceived to join with him last year. They have been used and thrown away into the trash can. I do not pity them. They became victims of their greed and indiscretions.

I titled this piece “Governor Seyi Makinde’s Government and Penchant for Selling Oyo’s Cherished Property before 2027” Now let’s talk about a few recent scandals.
A couple of days ago, I came across a Facebook post by a retired Staff of the Broadcasting Corporations of Oyo state, BCOS. He was raising the alarm over Governor Makinde’s plan to sell off another property belonging to the BCOS.
When I saw the post, I told myself, the property in question is gone. ( O ti lo). I was so sure that before it became public knowledge, the sale must have been completed. That is Governor Makinde’s style.
Honestly, my heart goes out to the Staff members of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) and I pity the next Governor of Oyo state.
It’s becoming clearer by the days. The present Government in Oyo state is an affliction. I just hope and pray that the Emperor will not wake up one day and sell off whatever remains of the BCOS. Incidentally, this is the Governor talking about strong institutions.
This is the Governor who is saying that when he took over as Governor of Oyo state, the state had just one and a half University and now we have four! Yet, he established not a single University.
The late Governor Abiola Ajimobi built the Technical University from the scratch. Adebayo Alao Akala built the College of Agriculture, Igboora also from the scratch. The Ladoke Akintola University has been there all these while, jointly owned by the Governments of Oyo and Osun States.
Governor Makinde merely completed a process of sole ownership which had been on before he became Governor and he is here now talking about Oyo State having four universities under his watch!
Which Universities are we talking about here? Is it the College of Education, Oyo which he elevated to a University of Education or which one is he talking about?
Governor Makinde makes me remember the fellow who consumed his cornmeal with bean cakes and he begins to tell people that he just had a proper meal. What should the man who took pounded yam with a nourished soup do? ( Eni to fi akara jeko, to ni Oun gbe ata mi, eni to se obe nko)?
Sometimes, I used to feel like, Governor Makinde is not that guilty. The society has it’s own fair share of blames.
When the Government of Ajimobi had to demolish some structures to accommodate road expansions, everyone was up in arms, to the extent that the late former Governor had to abandon the projects in some areas. The Eleyele-Ologuneru planned dualization is a typical example.
Now, where are those shouting themselves hoarse during Ajimobi’s time when Governor Seyi Makinde started demolishing properties and taking over markets and public spaces?
For now, there is nothing anyone could do. That space at the BCOS is gone. My only problem is that no one is asking this Governor the right questions.
Who are the people buying these properties of our Dear state? How has Government been managing the proceeds from these sales? How much is going to Government purse? How does the sales of these assets benefit the people of Oyo state?
Someone told me couple of days ago that Bimbo Adekambi is also an Estate Developer and since he said so, I’ve been wondering, could it be that….?
The damage that Governor Makinde alone has done to the assets of Oyo state is monumental. It is almost two years now since he handed over the Eruwa Farm Settlement to some unknown entities. Since he performed the handing over ceremony, no one has shown up to drop a single block on that 4 hectares Farm Settlement.
Some of us raised serious objections to the proposal to hand over the Farm Settlement, but some of our people at home, most especially, those calling themselves the Eruwa Elders Council wouldn’t have none of our genuine concerns. Now, I want to ask them, how market?
Government claimed to sign an agreement with some invisible investors, you didn’t see a copy of the said agreement and yet, you tagged along!
I returned to Ibadan from Eruwa on Monday and I saw, yet again, the eyesore, the rehabilitation of the Ido-Eruwa Road has become. Governor Seyi Makinde should be extremely ashamed of himself with the rubbish happening around that project. I am challenging the Governor to pick a date and let us go see what his contractors are doing.
I will extend that challenge to cover the Omi-Adio-Ido Road also. A road project which is less than two years and is almost completely damaged despite constant patching!
For the Ido-Eruwa Road, it is not even about the distance covered now. We are familiar with the snail speed but the quality of the job is the fresh issue. The little portion of the areas already completed is breaking up in just a matter of weeks!
I am so surprised that Rt Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, despite being a son of Eruwa, has not considered raising the alarm about the quality of the job done by the contractors.
By the way, I am also challenging Governor Seyi Makinde to release details of the identities of the contractors who have worked on that road, beginning with the two contractors who worked from both the Eruwa and the Ido end under the initial contracts of 2023.
Will the Governor ever dare? I bet he won’t but we have information on the contractors, including the one so close to home. Before I round up, I think the public deserves to know this. All of us have been calling on the Governor to allow the Local Governments to breathe.
You won’t believe it, Governor Makinde has answered our calls but not in a way to benefit the public. It is in a way to favor the Local Government political office holders and benefit the Governor.
To sustain his political calculations, Governor Makinde has approved the payment of millions of Naira for the Local Government political office holders in the name of salary arrears and allowances.
From information at my disposal, Ward Councilors will receive the sum of 2.6 million Naira in salary arrears. Supervisory Councilors would receive 2. 7 million Naira, Local Government SAs who are working on part time basis will receive 2.5 million Naira and Local Government Chairmen are to receive around 10 million Naira each. The payment would be spread across 3 months.
Can you imagine that! For Governor Makinde, the only thing that matters to him about the Local Governments is the loyalty of the political office holders to him and this could easily be purchased. This is one of the reasons everyone, not only politicians, should be against the planned Local Government election by Governor Seyi Makinde.
Before now, I have been advocating for a court action to stop the election but on a second thought, I felt like, you may not necessarily require a court order to remove anyone elected under the circumstances surrounding the planned Local Government election.
It is laughable to see that some Local Government Chairmen have been handed over tickets to contest for different political offices under the Allied People’s Movement, APM.
Win or lose, those clowns would be regular customers of the Anti-corruption Agencies and they might end up somewhere in Oyo town, Abolongo or what is the place called?
Sola Abegunde.
