Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo has been nominated as one the beneficiaries of the Federal Government of Nigeria Universal Service Provision Fund (Campus Connectivity Network Project). The agency is to facilitate the achievement of national policy goals for universal access and universal service to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in rural, un-served and underserved areas in Nigeria.

According to a copy of the letter addressed and handed over to the College Provost, Dr. Rasak Adetunji Adefabi by the facilitator and Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Telecommunications, Hon. Prince Akeem Adeyemi (Skimeh), “the objective of the project is to provide high speed internet access to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria through the development of adequate ICT network infrastructure. The letter further reads: “arrangements are now at an advanced stage for the commencement of the delivery and subsequent installation of the infrastructure and associated devices and services”.

In a release by Mr. Wale Adeoye, Special Assistant on Media Matters to the Provost, the presentation of the letter which was done at the Atiba Hall, Oyo on Monday, July 19, 2021 formed part of the 2-year stewardship account of the Federal legislator. According to the former Chairman, Atiba Local Government, “this is our own little way of contributing to the development of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo”.

Responding, the College helmsman, Dr. Rasak A. Adefabi commended the Oyo Prince legislator, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi Skimeh for his people-oriented programmes which he continues to execute since he got people’s mandate as a legislator representing Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba/Afijo Federal Constituency. “As a College, we appreciate this gesture which in no small way will aid academic and research work in the College. We value this and it shall remain indelible in the history of our great College”, the College Chief Executive stated. He thanked the legislator Hon. Prince Akeem Adeyemi for the good gesture as it is a promise fulfilled to the College on his part.

Prince Akeem Adeyemi ‘Skimeh’ for his show of love to the College through the facilitation of Campus Connectivity Network Project. We deeply appreciate the gesture and wish you well in your future endeavours”, the Iseyin-born technocrat submitted.
