Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly called Sunday Igboho has lost bid to get N20billion compensation over his house raid by Department of State Security Service (DSS) on July 1, 2021.
The Court of Appeal in Ibadan on Tuesday set aside the judgement which declared the attack on Igboho’s house as illegal. The Appeal Court also strike N20billion exemplary and aggravated damages awarded against DSS as outrageous.

According to The Nation, Justice Muslim Hassan held that the Oyo State High Court ignored the merit of the case while assuming jurisdiction. Justice Hassan added that the judge should not have awarded damages bases on his personal parameters.
FRESHPAGE.COM.NG recalls that Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court had on September 27, 2021 declared the July 1, 2021 invasion of Igboho’s house in Soka, Ibadan by operatives of DSS as illegal, a violation of human rights.

Justice Akintola granted the 16 reliefs sought by Igboho’s lawyers and slammed N20billion exemplary and aggravated damages on the security agency and its Oyo State director.
Speaking after the judgement on Tuesday, Chief Sunday Igboho has declared that he would not relent in getting justice over the attack on his house.

The spokesperson for the Yoruba Nation agitator, Olayomi Koiki in a live video chat after the judgement which was monitored by FRESHPAGE.COM.NG called on international community for prompt intervention over the matter in order to get justice for Chief Sunday Igboho.
