Senator Yunus Akintunde has enjoined Christians in Nigeria and beyond to observe the virtues of the Christian faith especially on sharing genuine affection, care, piety among others as the Lent season of fasting just started while celebrating the Ash Wednesday.
Senator Akintunde who is representing Oyo Central Senatorial District in a release made available to the media by Kunle Olatunji his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, used the opportunity to encourage Christians to pray for the continuous unification and progress of Nigeria and peace across the globe.
“Observing the unique period of fasting as taught in the Holy Book and the teachings of Christ, it is a period of deep reflections on spiritual and divine expectations as regards extension of care, affection, humility and piety among several good deeds by Christian adherents towards humanity”.

“It is not a coincidence that the periods of fasting of the Christians and the Ramadan fasting period of Muslims are holding simultaneously at the same period this year, I think these special occasions will afford us the opportunity to pray for the good of humanity and especially our Nation Nigeria while we also strengthen our spiritual commitments to God Almighty in supplications and righteous living”.
He then prayed for divine guidance, strength and grace for the faith adherents during the Lent fasting program which commenced with the Ash Wednesday.
