The League of Imams and Alfas across Oyo State has announced plans to hold its annual Muharram prayer programme, bringing together Islamic clerics, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to offer prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria, and Oyo State.
The event, scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, corresponding with the 11th day of Muharram, 1448AH, will be held at the Ultra-Modern Mini Stadium, Ilaji Resort, Ibadan, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

According to the organisers, the annual prayer session is part of activities marking the Islamic New Year and is aimed at seeking divine guidance, peace, stability, and prosperity for the nation and its leaders.
The programme will be held under the leadership of the Grand Imam of Oyo State, Sheikh Abdul-Ganiy Abubakar Agbotomokekere, who is expected to lead special prayers for President Tinubu, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Oyo State, and the country’s continued unity and development.
The organisers disclosed that members of the League of Imams and Alfas from the various zones of the state, including Ibadan, Ibarapa, Ogbomoso, Oyo, and Oke-Ogun, are expected to participate in the gathering.
Also invited to the event are traditional rulers, chiefs, market leaders, community stakeholders, political leaders, and members of the public.
The Central Planning Committee, in a statement announcing the programme, said the annual gathering provides an opportunity for Muslims and other well-meaning Nigerians to come together in prayer for the peace, security, and progress of the country amid prevailing socio-economic and security challenges.
The committee urged residents of Oyo State and Nigerians at large to attend the prayer session and join in seeking Allah’s blessings for the nation’s leaders and citizens.
