The University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) Worldwide has been thrown into deep mourning following the assassination of its immediate past President, Prof. Gabriel Sawaau Nyityo and his brother by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday at his residence in Makurdi, Benue State.
FreshPage gathered through information available to the Association by Spade Nigeria, that the assailants invaded the family home and allegedly carried out the gruesome attack in the presence of their aged mother, leaving family members, colleagues, alumni and friends devastated.

Until his tragic death, Prof. Nyityo was a distinguished Professor of History at Benue State University, Makurdi, currently serving sabbatical at the National Open University (NOUN).
The late don was widely respected as an accomplished scholar, administrator and committed alumnus who dedicated himself to the growth and unity of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association Worldwide.
