The need for a united academic community devoid of rancour has been hammered by the Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan. The Vice-Chancellor made this call recently at the maiden University Registry Workshop and Colloquium programme held in the university 500-seater Auditorium for Senior Registry Staff in the institution.
According to him, university thrives when there is collaboration between the academics, registry and the bursary which all form a tripod stand. As long as each of these plays the expected roles and relates well with others, meaningful progress and development will be recorded in the university.
However, what we have today is in the other way round. “This is why the workshop of today is fully supported by the management towards ensuring that members of the university registry understand the nitty gritty of their jobs. I therefore congratulate the Registrar on this initiative and wish you a successful outcome after the workshop and colloquium. I am sure it would be a productive engagement”, submitted the VC.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi Siju’ Asunmo, mnim, fcia, fanc, fanupa, stated that the maiden edition of the Registry Professional Development Series 2026, comprising a Workshop and Colloquium for University Professional Administrators marks another significant milestone in our collective commitment to strengthening the capacity, competence and professionalism of Registry personnel in Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo.
According to the Chief Administrative Officer, “As custodians of the administrative machinery of the University, Registry staff occupy a strategic position in ensuring the efficient operation of the institution and the effective implementation of policies and decisions of the University authorities.
The world of university administration is constantly evolving. New challenges emerge daily, requiring administrators to continually update their knowledge, sharpen their skills and embrace best practices. It is against this backdrop that the Registry Professional Development Series was conceived as a platform for continuous learning, professional growth and the exchange of ideas among Registry personnel.”
“The workshop session, with the theme “Techniques and Technicalities of Minutes, Memoranda and Report Writing,” is particularly relevant to our responsibilities as professional administrators. The quality of our minutes, memoranda and reports often reflects the efficiency, competence and professionalism of the Registry. We must therefore strive for excellence in all our official communications and documentation.”
Speaking further, the renowned technocrat stated that the colloquium on “Ethics Required of University Professional Administrators” is timely and essential. Ethical conduct remains the foundation of professional administration. Integrity, confidentiality, accountability, loyalty, diligence and respect for institutional regulations are values that must continually guide our actions and decisions as university administrators.”
While showing her delight on the assembled seasoned professionals, she used the opportunity to express her profound appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Olaniyan for his unwavering support for staff development and capacity-building initiatives.
The event witnessed the former Registrar & Secretary to Council, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Dr. Kayode Ogunleye coming out in his best on the topic – Techniques and Technicalities of Minutes, Memorandum and Report Writing while a Colloquium on Ethics Required of University Professional Administrators was handled by the Senior Deputy Registrar/Senate, Academic Records and Curriculum, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, Mr. Rasheed O. Olaosebikan.
The event which was attended by members of the University Administration had all members of the Senior Registry Staff as participants.
