The Governing Council, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo on Friday, approved the appointment of Dr Sikiru Morakinyo Raimi as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).
According to a release signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. Olubunmi Siju’ Asunmo, the appointment which takes effect from Friday, 19 June 2026, is to run for a period of two (2) years.

Dr Sikiru Morakinyo Raimi, an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology and Integrated Science, was born in Oyo West Local Government Area of Oyo state to the Chief Ona-Isokun family on December 27, 1959. He had his primary education at the R.C.M. Primary School, Asogo, Oyo between 1966 and 1971.
He had his Secondary Education at Oranyan Grammar School, Oyo between 1973 and 1978 while he obtained his WASCE O’ level in 1978. He later proceeded to the then Oyo State College of Education, Ilesa (Oyo Campus) where he obtained the Nigeria Certificate in Education, NCE (in Biology and Chemistry) in 1983. In a thirst for higher education, he was admitted into the University of Benin, Benin City through Direct Entry and obtained a B.Ed. (Science) degree in Chemistry in 1987.

He thereafter, proceeded to the University of Ibadan where he obtained his M. Ed. (Science Education) in 1991 and obtained his Ph.D (Science Education) with specialisation in Chemistry at the University of Ibadan in September 2002.
Dr Raimi began his teaching career at the Government Secondary School Ulayi Otukpo
Benue State, where he observed the mandatory one year NYSC programme between 1983 and 1984. He was later appointed as a classroom teacher by the Oyo State TESCOM between 1984 and 1990.

In 1990, he was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Biology and Integrated Science at the defunct St Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer (Integrated Science) in 2007.
He was redesignated as a Senior Lecturer (Biology and Integrated Science) when the defunct Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo was upgraded to an autonomous University.
Dr Raimi has taught many courses at the undergraduate level and supervised not less than fifty (50) projects at the undergraduate level. He has held a number of administrative positions both at the defunct college and at the University levels. These administrative positions include Acting Head, Department of Integrated Science between 1998 and 2000, substantive Head of Department between 2000 and 2004, Director (CMIS), between 2004 and 2008.
He was elected, Dean (School of Science) between 2009 and 2010. He was the Desk Officer (TETFund) in the defunct College of Education between 2014 and 2016. He was Assistant Director (Full-Time) degree, Ekiti State University in affiliation with Emmanuel Alayande College of Education between 2016 and 2020. He is currently the Head, Department of Integrated Science, a position that he has been holding since the institution assumed a University status in 2023.
Dr Raimi has contributed immensely to the growth and development of this great citadel of learning both at the college and University levels. These include Member, Governing Council, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (2009 to 2011), member, ad-hoc committee on review of promotion criteria, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (2019 to 2020), Chairman, Result Computation and Compilation Committee, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (1998 to 2004), member, Committee on Resource Verification Exercise, Faculty of Science Education, 2023, Representative of the Senate on the First Governing Council, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Chairman, Ad-hoc Committee on 2026 Governing Council and Senate Retreat, Chairman, Ad-hoc committee on preparation of Governing Council and Senate Standing Orders, Member, Ad-hoc Committee on Revision of Promotion Guidelines for Academic staff, Member, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Alumni Association and WAEC Examination Officer.
Professionally, Dr Raimi is a member of Nigeria Integrated Science Teachers Project, Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, Member, AMINU KANO Academic Scholars Association (AKASA), Kano, Member, Science and Technology Awareness Network (STAN), Member, Nigeria Football Referees Association (NRA), Member, Ojongbodu Grammar School Governing Board. He is also a member of the Bright Stars Club, Oyo; Public Relations Officer, Oyo Champions, and member, Oyo Metropolitan Development Association and Oyo Descendants Union, Chairman of Egbe Omo Oyo Tiwa N Tiwa, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo.
He has a total of more than seventy (70) articles published in reputable journals, referenced conference proceedings and edited textbooks and monographs. Of this total, he has published one standard textbook and co-authored four others. He has attended over forty (40) learned conferences locally, nationally and internationally.
Dr Raimi was married to the late Mrs. Bolatito Ogunpeju Raimi (may her soul rest in perfect peace) and the marriage is blessed with children.
Congratulating the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) on his appointment, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan urged him to bring to bear his wealth of experience in moving the university forward. “The approval of the recommendation of the University Senate on your appointment by the Governing Council was a reflection of the Council’s belief in your delivery. I welcome you on board into the university administration and expect you contribute your quota as an alumnus, academic and administrator. Congratulations, and here is wishing you a successful tenure” submitted the Vice-Chancellor.
