The entire University of Ibadan community has received the news of the death of Professor Akin Mabogunje with shock but also with gratitude to God that he lived a good life and left his footprints in the sands of time.
In a statement to commiserate with the bereaved family, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, FAS, mni, noted that the erudite Professor was an alumnus of the University as well as a foremost Professor of Geography who retired from the University of Ibadan in 1981 after many years of meritorious service.
Professor Mabogunje attained national and international repute in the field of Geography. He died on Thursday, 04 August, 2022 at the age of 90 years.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the Professor will be sorely missed and prayed that God will grant his family the fortitude to bear his death.
