The way the Allied People’s Movement, APM are going about, handling the fear of their imminent defeat in the 2027 general election, a psychiatric check on some of their lickspittles may not really be out of order.
A couple of weeks ago, they pounced on Hon. Soji Adedeji, the Deputy Governornorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
They said he is behind Governor Seyi Makinde’s inability to finish the rehabilitation of the 48klm Ido-Eruwa Road.
A few days after they leveled the unsustainable and irrational allegation against the gentleman, the APM Gubernatorial candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi and a strayed On Air Personality, who I love to refer to as the birthday boy changed the narrative.
They said an unnamed APC Chieftain is the one behind Governor Seyi Makinde’s inability to finish up the 48klm stretch of Road.
We asked them questions and pointed to the fact that it is too late in the day to begin to search for a scapegoat for the failed Ido-Eruwa Road project and they had since withdrew to their shells.
This morning however, I saw a video of the APC Deputy Governornorship candidate eating bananas while walking along with some gentlemen.
I wanted to react to that video at that point, but I felt like, which sensible person will buy into the narrative of the clowns who posted the video.
However, this afternoon, I saw a write up titled, ” Oyo Has a Waste Emergency, But APC Deputy Governornorship Candidate Adds Banana Peel to the Problem”.
The writer of the piece didn’t put his or her name and I know that it is deliberate.
I also noticed that the writer of the piece wrote in perfect English. It is the job of a brilliant mind, but the writer, whoever he or she is, must also be ashamed of his or her reasoning, thereby deciding to do such a story from the cover of darkness.
When you are making no sense, you require no one to tell you.
Now, let us judge the story from the headline. The writer is saying that Oyo state has a waste disposal problem and I want to ask, who should be blamed for that?

Governor Makinde inherited a perfect waste disposal system from the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, but, just like he did with Education, he distrupted the system he inherited and since then, things have gone worse.
I see that the writer of the piece tried so hard to make a mountain out of a banana peel, deliberately overlooking the fact that Hon. Soji Adedeji was on a campaign activity when the video was recorded.

About a month ago, the APM held a rally at the Adamasingba Sports Complex where they welcome Boye Sangodade and his supporters to their political party.
Hundreds of APM supporters were seen on video gulping all manner of satchet hard drinks and throwing the nylons all over the place.
Where was this writer at the time?
I have seen several pictures of politicians, Governor Seyi Makinde inclusive, buying, eating and throwing corn cob all over the place.
I know that these are very trying times for the APM and they will try to make negative news of every actions of the APC, most especially, the Gubernatorial and Deputy Governornorship candidates.
However, I still think all of us need to be circumspect about what we put out there.
How does a banana peel take away the the fact that Governor Seyi Makinde has continued to cripple the 33 Local Governments for seven years plus?
How has the action of the APC Deputy Governornorship candidate settled the unanswered questions about Oyo State’s indebtedness under Governor Seyi Makinde?
How is his action more important than the fact that Oyo has continued to retrogress in Education over the past seven years plus of the Government of Seyi Makinde?
If a gentleman, eating bananas while on campaign activity will attract the attention of the writer of the piece, should he or she be blind to the fraudulent activities of the Park Management System, PMS, the failed Light Up Oyo Project and the mindless sales of Oyo state assets under the outgoing Government of Seyi Makinde?
The pain that the Makinde Government has inflicted on the people of Oyo state in the past seven years are just too much for someone to be calling our attention to a banana peel.
Oyo citizens are concerned about financial autonomy for Local Governments. They are excited that Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli was able to identify the fact that six, out of the 33 Local Governments of Oyo state do not have a General Hospital and he is prepared to build one each in those Local Governments where we have deficits.
They are excited that under Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli and Adesoji Adedeji, Oyo will begin to enjoy the 30 Pupils per classroom policy which will effectively mean that more teaching and non teaching staffs would be employed in our public primary and secondary schools and of course, more infrastructures provided.
They are excited that Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli and Adedeji Adesoji will take care of the mess Governor Seyi Makinde and the APM created at the Circular Road and the Broadcasting Corporations of Oyo state, BCOS.
If the APM are not comfortable that someone eat bananas and dropped the peels on the ground, they could go to where the banana peels were dropped and pick them up.
We have better things to do with our time.
Sola Abegunde.
