If leadership is about consistency, Bimbo Adekanmbi failed woefully.
What Oyo people witnessed at the BCOS Media Chat was not a policy conversation, but a masterclass in political double-speak and inconsistency.
Bimbo Adekanmbi, the APM candidate and political errand boy of Governor Seyi Makinde, has in a matter of weeks told Oyo people two different stories on one critical issue: Local Government Autonomy.
On record, at his last public outing, Adekanmbi was categorical: He will NOT grant autonomy to local governments. No pretense. No ambiguity.
Yesterday, inside the same BCOS that his godfather’s government has left in ruins, he shamelessly made a U-turn, telling the world he would now “try and champion” local government autonomy.
Which Adekanmbi should Oyo believe? The one who spoke last month, or the one who spoke yesterday? This is double-mouth politics at its worst.
And the irony is worse. His godfather, Governor Seyi Makinde, has spent over six years crippling the third tier of government, starving local governments of funds and independence. Adekanmbi cannot champion what his principal has destroyed.

His outing was not only contradictory, it was heartless. He stood inside the dilapidated BCOS premises, before demoralized staff whose welfare and working conditions have been decapitated by this same government, and could not muster a single word of sympathy, solidarity or solution. He ignored their pain right inside their own house.
If you cannot speak truth to power inside BCOS, you cannot speak for Oyo State.
Oyo does not need a political chameleon who changes colour with every audience. Oyo does not need a man who says black in the morning and white at night just to please his godfather.
Oyo needs conviction. Oyo needs consistency. Oyo needs a leader.
Bimbo Adekanmbi has proven he is not that leader.
