I can see that the pretenders on the other side have been celebrating the outing of Bimbo Adekanmbi, Oyo Allied People’s Movement, APM Gubernatorial candidate, on a Radio program anchored by one of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Man Friday.
Honestly, most of the guys around Governor Makinde are mere opportunists and I say this with all sense of humility.
Let’s be serious, does it not stand logic on its head, if you set an examination for yourself, you marked the script by yourself and you scored yourself excellent.
I saw Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju’s Press release this morning and I asked myself, what exactly is wrong with our friends on the other side?
According to Olanrewaju, the All Progressives Congress, APC have become so jittery about the interview granted by Bimbo Adekanmbi yesterday and the reasons he adduced for his warped opinion is just because the APC responded to the many lies told by Adekanmbi on the program.
I am however surprised that Dr. Olanrewaju, as the arrowhead of the Bimbo Adekanmbi Media Team still dedicated the better part of his essay on discussions around Bimbo Adekanmbi’s interpretation of Local Government Autonomy.
If Adekanmbi had acted well and spoken right about his belief and position about Local Government Autonomy, why is Olanrewaju sweating again to convince the public about the clear position of Adekanmbi on Local Government Autonomy?

Fortunately, the interview is recorded and its video now abounds. Bimbo was emphatic about his position and his position is not different from that of Governor Seyi Makinde, ” I DO NOT BELIEVE IN AUTONOMY FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS.” ( Emphasis mine). That is the position clearly stated by the APM Gubernatorial candidate and the birthday boy reinforced this when he kept sermonizing about the fact that 31 out of 33 Local Governments of Oyo state voted for Governor Makinde despite his position on Local Government Autonomy in 2023.
The people of Oyo state will teach them a bitter lesson in 2027.
Unfortunately for the APM, they thought the birthday boy who anchored the program was doing them good with the way he was jumping in and out of the interview yesterday.
For sensible people, that was not an interview. It was paid PR, at best, an interactive session between two extremely bitter individuals and we thank God for their ignorance.
If not for that interview and the overzealousness of the birthday boy, how would the people of Oyo state have known that Adekanmbi would continue to deprive our Local Governments the monthly allocations meant for their developments?
How would they have known that, under the watch of Bimbo Adekanmbi, the resources meant for the 33 Local Governments would be collapsed together for the purpose of funding projects belonging to a few Local Governments?
How would they have known that the monthly Internally Generated Revenue, IGR from garages and parks would continue to go into the private pockets of people like Seye Famojuro?
I am surprised that Dr. Olanrewaju could also jump in defense of the very reckless and uninformed position that, despite the judgment of the Supreme Court, something else still required to be done before Local Governments begin to enjoy full financial autonomy!
I am surprised that he could be so pedestrian, just like the birthday boy, not to know, that, the Law is what the Supreme Court of Nigeria says it is and the Supreme Court, in this instance, had ruled that the Federal Government could begin to pay monthly allocations for the Local Governments directly into their respective Bank accounts.
If Governor Seyi Makinde is refusing to comply with that judgment, and Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli is saying, I will comply with the judgment of the Supreme Court by allowing Local Governments to submit their Bank accounts for the direct receipt of their monthly allocations, how is that a mountain too tall to climb?
If you are a thief who is not contented with what you have, does it follow that everyone else must be like you?
If you lack the will to do the right thing, does it follow that no one else would not have the will to act appropriately?
I laughed after listening to Adekanmbi talking about the fact that Local Governments would not be able to pay salaries for the Teachers if they are receiving direct monthly allocations and he referenced the time Senator Alli was Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government.
That opinion is highly hypocritical and unsustainable in the face of facts.
In the first instance, Senator Alli was Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government under a Military regime and the circumstances that warranted the situation at the time is no longer present and only a Godless individual will pray for a return of such a period. More so, Senator Alli was not alone at the time. It was a National issue.
Secondly, how is it possible that Local Governments won’t be able to pay salaries under the present arrangement?
Adekanmbi is an Accountant, even though, he has become one of those buying and selling Oyo state properties.
I challenge him to bring a break down of the monthly allocations for the 33 Local Governments, their expenditures, including salaries and pension for teachers and retirees and let him show us, which Local Government in Oyo state would still not have enough to do something reasonable in terms of developmental projects, after paying salaries and pension.
If he is able to do that, I will publicly issue an apology for calling him names, but in the absence of that important data, I think he should just shut up and stop lying all about.
I am confused and surprised. I thought people said the APM Gubernatorial candidate is a brilliant young man.
Which brilliant individual would be provided with opportunities to market himself and would end up doing the opposite?
The other time, he was at Arise Television program and he had a wonderful opportunity to explain, in details, what he would do to move Oyo state to a better position than what we have currently.
He wasted the opportunity and ended up being rattled by Rufai Oseni.
He couldn’t explain, in, at least a few sentences, two major projects he has mind if he is elected as Governor of Oyo state!
He was so rattled to the extent that he started mistaking Oyo for Ogun state. Even at that time, Olanrewaju and others still celebrated that obvious failure.
Again, on Saturday, in their comfort zone, Bimbo Adekanmbi spent the better part of two hours chasing shadows.
He was so filled with hatred and bitterness to the extent that he couldn’t answer any question without mentioning Senator Alli!
I am sure if he had been asked to mention the name of his father on the day, he would say Alli.
He had nothing to say about the Broadcasting Corporations of Oyo state, BCOS and the neglect the Corporations is suffering under Governor Makinde. Senator Sharafadeen Alli had made his position known on what he is going to do about BCOS.
He had no sympathy for the people of the Circular Road except that he was going to pay compensation. What about the set back? What about justice? On the other hand, Senator Sharafadeen Alli had made a strong statement about his plans to deal with the problems created by Governor Makinde at the Circular Road.
He had nothing to tell the people of Ogbomoso and Saki West, whose Lands are about to be grabbed by his mentor, Seyi Makinde. Senator Alli equally addressed that issue.
He said nothing about the Eruwa Farm Settlement which his mentor had sold to invisible investors who have not shown up since two years.
His position on the protracted Ido-Eruwa Road project leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
There was nothing concrete said about the fact that Oyo state has kept declining in the WAEC and NECO examination index. Alli was emphatic about the fact that we will go back to the days of 30 Pupils per classroom.
Health sector, no reform promised and no plans for Agriculture.
I enjoyed the Awada kerikeri of an interview of yesterday.
The birthday boy didn’t disappoint. He provided me with a lot of valid points to use against his host and also acted his scripts very well.
What a comic relief!
Sola Abegunde.
