The Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has announced plans to mobilise over one million organic voters and members of the JDS Movement as part of activities marking his 59th birthday on Saturday, October 17, 2026, which he has declared Tinubu Day.

Chief Sanusi made the announcement during an engagement with representatives of various JDS Support Groups at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan, where discussions centred on preparations for the proposed celebration and political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the announcement, the initiative is intended to bring together members and supporters of the JDS Movement to demonstrate their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his anticipated re-election bid in 2027.

Chief Sanusi has been a supporter of President Tinubu since the build-up to the 2023 presidential election and has continued to mobilise through the JDS Movement in support of the President’s political ambition.

By declaring his birthday Tinubu Day, the Ibadan-based businessman and philanthropist is seeking to combine the personal milestone with a political gathering focused on the President’s 2027 re-election campaign.

Beyond his support for President Tinubu, Chief Sanusi also reaffirmed his backing for Senator Sharafadeen Alli’s governorship ambition in Oyo State, alongside other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the state.

The engagement with representatives of the JDS Support Groups forms part of consultations and mobilisation activities involving grassroots political structures, community stakeholders, traders, artisans, youths and other groups associated with the movement.

The proposed one-million-voter target represents the scale of mobilisation Chief Sanusi says he intends to pursue as the political atmosphere gradually builds towards the 2027 general elections.

As preparations continue for October 17, the Tinubu Day declaration is expected to feature prominently in the activities surrounding Chief Sanusi’s 59th birthday, with members and supporters of the JDS Movement expected to participate in the planned gathering.
