One of the halls of residence in the University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo Hall was on early hours of Saturday was attacked by suspected burglar and carted away valuables of students residing in the hall. 

The victim students were reportedly tortured for the raid that lasted for few hours.

FRESHPAGE gathered that the security section of the hall of residence was alerted by the screams of the affected students and hurriedly swung into action.

The Public Relations Officer of the University, Mrs. Adejoke Akinpelu confirmed the incident to FRESHPAGE. Mrs. Akinpelu while quoting the Hall Warden  said two rooms in Obafemi Awolowo Hall were affected.

She said only mobile phones of the affected students were carted away by the robbers and tracking of one of the phones is ongoing.

According to Mrs. Akinpelu; ”when suspected burglar gained access to affected rooms, he requested for students’ laptop and they told him they don’t have before he later requested for their mobile phones”.

She said efforts are ongoing by the security operatives to expose the perpetrators.
