The Gbenga Power Foundation successfully hosted its highly anticipated annual philanthropy programme and get-together on December 21, 2024, at the ECWA School Open Field in Igbaja, Kwara State. The event brought together Traditional Leaders, Political Office holders, Religious Leaders, community members, distinguished guests, and well-wishers for a day of celebration, giving, and unity.
The gathering, which was designed to celebrate the spirit of philanthropy and community service, featured an array of activities aimed at uplifting the local population while also reflecting on all the philanthropic activities of the Organization in the year 2024.
It also provided a platform for engaging and fruitful discussions about the future of Ifelodun, Offa and Oyun Federal Constituencies.
The event was graced by several prominent dignitaries, including Hon. AGF Salahudden, the Honorable Member representing Omupo State Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly. In his address, Hon. Salahudden emphasized the importance of community-based initiatives, encouraging others to follow in the footsteps of The Gbenga Power Foundation in empowering the downtrodden in our local communities.
Alhaji Abdullateef Isowo, the APC State Secretary, also attended and commended the foundation’s Philanthropic gestures across Ifelodun Local Government and beyond. He expressed his admiration for the foundation’s continued efforts to provide support and resources to the less privileged in the state, while also advocating for sincere unity within the local government considering the need to harness its potentials so as to position the local government for proper development.
Hon. Nike Ajibola, the Vice Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, who represented the Chairman, Hon. Femi Yusuf, at the event. Hon. Ajibola delivered a soothing message of support for The Gbenga Power Foundation’s mission, reiterating the local government’s commitment to collaborating with organizations that prioritize the welfare of the people.
During her speech, she highlighted the role of philanthropy in driving societal progress, stressing that partnerships between the government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are essential to achieving lasting positive change.

Aside various testimonies from beneficiaries of the Gbenga Power Foundation, a stalwart of the Foundation, Abdulazeez Feyisara, highlighted the impact of the organization across the Federal Constituency over the past one year. He noted that Motorised Boreholes had been provided to different communities in the 3 local governments that makes up the Constituency. Other interventions are subvention for farmers and market women, Provision of Jamb forms for students while offering full scholarships for recipients who excelled in the tertiary
Placement examination. He concluded by showing immense gratitude to the Chairman of the Organization, Hon. Gbenga Oyekunle for his support and kind gestures over the past 10years where the organization has been reaching out to the needy.

On his part, the Chairman of the Organization, Hon. Gbenga Oyekunle noted that the philanthropic gestures are targeted at supporting the administration of Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq considering the developmental strides that the Governor had undertaken in the state. The philanthropist who concluded his speech by dancing with children and women noted that the Gbenga Power Foundation will double up on its programmes and plans for the year 2025 so that more persons across the Federal Constituency can partake in the benevolent gestures of the organization.
However, the highlight of the event was the distribution of the donations across the 40 wards that comprises the Federal Constituency, which included food items, monetary gifts and other resources aimed at supporting vulnerable people towards the festivities. The Foundation’s commitment to social welfare was evident as the local residents of the host community, Igbaja, trooped out en masse to welcome the Chairman of the Foundation, Gbenga Oyekunle.
Present at the epoch making event are stakeholders from Ifelodun, Offa And Oyun LGAs, Prof. Lawal Atoyebi, Prince Toye Oyinlola, Alhaji Fatai Garuba, Princess Shade Toyibat, Commissioner II at the Local Government Service Commission, members of the All Progressives Congress from the 3 Local Governments.
Among the traditional leaders present include, the Elese in Council led by the Agbaja of Igbaja, Elerin of Adanla, Alamoyo of Amoyo, Onlupeju of Ilupeju, Alatanda of Atanda, Ojibara of Bayagan, Gbedako of Kabba Owode and a host of others.
