The President of the Yoruba Youth Council and Mogaji-Elect of Ifatayo-Alawode Descendants of Ibadanland, Aare Alawode Rahmon Akintunde, has issued a strong warning to politicians against making statements or taking actions that undermine the revered stool of the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

In a statement personally signed by him, Aare Alawode emphasized that any form of disrespect toward the sacred institution would not be tolerated by Yoruba youths, particularly those of Ibadanland, where tradition and respect for the monarchy remain central to the people’s identity.

He described recent developments as “political games by desperate actors” who, according to him, lack a cordial relationship with His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

“Let it be clearly stated that we will not take it lightly with any politician who disrespects the stool of the Olubadan. Such actions are not only provocative but also a direct affront to our heritage and unity as a people,” he said.

Aare Alawode further advised political stakeholders to approach the traditional institution with respect and sincerity, noting that support from the Olubadan stool is earned through goodwill and proper engagement.

“Whoever seeks the support of the Olubadan should do so with dignity and humility. If they have what it takes, they will be duly considered,” he added.

He concluded by calling for caution, respect, and maturity in political discourse, urging all actors to uphold the values and traditions that bind Ibadanland together.
