University of Ibadan and seven other federal universities will benefit from the Federal Government’s uninterrupted 24-hour electricity deal with Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
This was confirmed yesterday by Minister of Education, Dr Olatunji Alausa as the Federal Ministry of Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) under the Federal Government’s Energising Education Programme (EEP) to guarantee 24-hour electricity supply to university campuses.
Other universities to benefit from the 24-hour electricity supply include; Ahmadu University Zaria, Federal University, Dutse; University of Benin, University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife; Federal University, Wukari and University of Lagos.

Dr Alausa reiterated that ensuring 24-hour electricity supply to all federal and state owned tertiary institutions remains the priority of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He added that 24 institutions have benefitted from Phase Ito III of the programme.
