Oyo state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has urged former Ekiti state governor, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose to accept defeat and stop attributing the failure of his preferred candidate, Dr. Eddy Olafeso to over-voting.

The former Ekiti state governor, Fayose yesterday described the recent South west People’s Democratic Part (PDP) congress as a scam. Fayose alleged that the congress held three days ago in Osogbo, Osun state capital was rigged in favour of Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja.

It would be recalled the that Ambassador Arapaja polled a total of 343 votes to defeat his main rival, Dr. Eddy Olafeso who scored 330 votes at the congress held in Osogbo earlier this week.

In a swift reaction, the Publicity secretary in Oyo state, Engr. Akeem Olatunji countered Fayose that his claim the election was rigged is totally false.

Engr Olatunji said the election was the freest and fairest in the history of congresses in Nigeria. Olatunji said delegates from each state were screened and accredited and total number for each state was announced before voting commenced.

”This is no way one candidate can be rigged for other the way the congress was conducted. I urge our former governor of Ekiti to join hands with newly South West PDP executives to help party to coast to victory in future elections”
