The former senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi has condemned the early hours attack on Igangan town by unknown gunmen and called on Federal Government and Oyo State Government to double their efforts in protecting lives and properties of innocent citizens.
Okanlomo of Ibadanland made this known in a statement he personally signed and made available to FreshPage on Sunday.
“I, Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi strongly condemn the attack on our people in Igangan, one of the towns in Ibarapa zone of Oyo State.
“It is time for Federal Government and Oyo State Government led Engr Seyi Makinde to rise up to the challenge. It is sad and inhumane waking up to such heart wrecking news.
“Changing security service chiefs is not enough on the part of Federal Government, it is high time the government carry out system overhaul.
“The perpetrators of Igangan massacre must not go unpunished. The State Governor must do everything possible within the ambit of law to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators.
“I commiserate with families of those who lost their loved ones in the sad attack. I share in the grief of those whose property were attacked; Asigangan of Iganganland, business operators and others.
“The time to act is now, the killing and destruction of properties must stop.
