As part of our commitment to building a prosperous, secure and economically vibrant Oyo State, I wish to reaffirm that quality infrastructure remains the backbone of sustainable development.
Roads, schools, hospitals, water facilities and other public assets are not mere projects; they are critical investments that must improve the lives of our people, stimulate economic growth, create jobs and enhance social welfare.
Infrastructure development must never be judged solely by the number of projects commissioned, but by their quality, durability, safety and long-term impact on the economy.
Every kobo of public funds invested must deliver measurable value to taxpayers.
The people of Oyo State deserve infrastructure built to the highest standards of engineering excellence, professionalism, transparency and accountability.Good governance thrives when citizens are actively involved.
The responsibility of the people does not end with attending project commissioning ceremonies. Citizens must continuously demand transparency and ask critical questions about whether projects are executed according to approved specifications, delivered within budget and capable of providing lasting benefits.
Active citizen oversight is a powerful tool for promoting accountability and safeguarding public resources.
I strongly believe that community leaders, professional bodies, transport unions, market associations, youth groups and civil society organisations should be encouraged to partner with government in monitoring public projects.
Such collaboration will strengthen accountability, improve project delivery and ensure that government remains responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.
Where public infrastructure fails due to poor workmanship, negligence or non-compliance with contractual obligations, contractors must be held fully accountable and compelled to remedy defects at their own expense.
Likewise, public officials entrusted with project supervision must be transparent in their actions and held responsible for ensuring strict adherence to quality standards and contractual requirements.
My vision for Oyo State is anchored on transparency, accountability, excellence and responsible leadership.
Under our administration, public procurement processes will be strengthened, independent quality assurance mechanisms institutionalised and infrastructure investments strategically aligned with the long-term development goals of our communities.
We shall prioritise projects that attract investment, promote trade, improve connectivity, strengthen security and expand access to quality social services.
I therefore call on all residents of Oyo State to remain vigilant, engaged and committed to the collective task of building a better state.
Together, through responsible leadership, transparent governance and active citizenship, we can ensure that public resources are prudently managed, infrastructure investments are protected and sustainable development becomes a lasting reality for present and future generations.
