The Governorship Candidate of the Action Democratic Party in Oyo State, Kunle Olatunji, alongside the leadership and members of the party, have strongly condemned the kidnapping of teachers and pupils at Oriire, as well as the gruesome murder of Mr. Michael Ogundokun, one of the abducted teachers.

The party described the unfortunate incident as barbaric, inhuman, and a disturbing reflection of the worsening security situation in Oyo State and the nation at large.

Speaking on the development, Olatunji and the Oyo State Chairman of the party, Apostle Dare Ojo, expressed deep concern, sadness, and dissatisfaction over the increasing level of insecurity confronting residents.

According to Olatunji, governance must be driven by sincerity of purpose, empathy, commitment, and a genuine sense of responsibility towards the protection and welfare of the people.

He stated that leadership at the federal, state, and local government levels demands seriousness, accountability, and proactive measures to safeguard lives and property at all times.

The ADP governorship candidate further stressed that security remains a collective responsibility, calling on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in ensuring a safer society.

The party also expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Mr. Michael Adeyemo, who was brutally murdered by the kidnappers, while praying for the safe rescue of the remaining teachers and pupils still being held captive.

Olatunji appealed to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde to urgently intensify efforts towards addressing the growing insecurity across the country.

It was quite a devastating and heartbreaking experience watching the video and photos of the experience of those affected in the camp of the bandits.

He emphasized the immediate need for the rescue of the abducted victims and called for a comprehensive improvement in the security architecture of Oyo State through adequate funding, modern surveillance systems, intelligence gathering, and proper equipping of security personnel.

Olatunji further urged the Oyo State Government to move beyond rhetoric and political propaganda by fulfilling its promises on security enhancement and deploying practical measures capable of restoring public confidence and safety across the state.
