The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli, has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving over N1.137 trillion for the construction and rehabilitation of eight strategic road projects across the three senatorial districts of Oyo State.
This is contained in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Ibadan.
Senator Alli described the approval as a historic intervention that would transform the state’s infrastructure, stimulate economic growth, enhance regional connectivity and improve the living standards of the people.
He said the approval once again demonstrated President Tinubu’s commitment to equitable development, national integration and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, the massive investment in critical road infrastructure is a clear testament that Oyo State occupies a strategic place in the development agenda of the Federal Government.
The APC governorship candidate said the projects would not only ease the movement of people and goods but also boost agriculture, commerce, industrialisation and socio-economic development across the state and neighbouring states.
He listed the approved projects as the N276 billion dualisation of the Ilorin-Ogbomoso Road, N217 billion dualisation of the old alignment Ijawaya-Federal Government College-Ilorin Road with a spur to Akinmorin, N265 billion reconstruction of the Iseyin-Eruwa-Agbesi Road linking Oyo and Kwara states, and the N110 billion reconstruction of the Ogbomoso-Oko-Illupu Road linking Oyo and Osun states.
Others, he said, include the N98 billion construction of the 30-kilometre Idi-Araba-Ayede-Olodo Road, N82 billion rehabilitation of the Igbeti Road, N74 billion construction of the Igbeti-Soro-Kishi Road, as well as the N15.5 billion construction of the 13-kilometre Badeku-Jaiye Road, all in Oyo State.
Alli noted that the projects reflected President Tinubu’s readiness to address long-standing infrastructural deficits that had hindered the economic potential of many communities across the state.
He expressed profound appreciation to the President on behalf of the good people of Oyo State, saying the people would never forget the landmark gesture.
“The people of Oyo State are grateful to President Bola Tinubu for this unprecedented investment in our future.
“These projects will open up our rural communities, reduce travel time, create thousands of jobs, improve security, encourage investments and accelerate economic prosperity across the state.
“This singular approval has once again reaffirmed that President Tinubu is a leader who listens to the yearnings of the people and responds with bold and impactful actions,” he said.
The APC governorship candidate assured the President that the people of Oyo State would reciprocate the gesture by giving him and the APC overwhelming support in the 2027 general election.
“The greatest appreciation Oyo people can offer Mr President is to stand solidly behind him and reward his outstanding performance with massive votes in 2027.
“We shall mobilise our people across the length and breadth of Oyo State to ensure that President Tinubu records an unprecedented electoral victory as a mark of our gratitude for this exceptional demonstration of love and commitment to our state,” he said.
The APC governorship candidate urged residents of the state to continue supporting the Tinubu administration, expressing confidence that more developmental projects would be attracted to Oyo through sustained collaboration with the Federal Government.
