The Joint Action Committee of trade unions comprises Academic Staff Union Polytechnics (ASUP), College of Education Staff Union (COEASU), Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Senior Staff Association Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) and Senior Staff Union of Colleges of Education Nigeria (SSUCOEN) in the six Oyo state owned tertiary institution has appealed to Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde to look cirtically into the factors responsible for the incomplete in payment of salaries to all staff members of the institution.
According to the press statement issued by JAC and made available to freshpage.com.ng in relation to the salary at Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, the body noted partial remittance of cooperative societies deductions by the College Management for the months of June, July and August, 2020.
The JAC rejects the shortfall of N21million linked with the payment of annual increment and implementation of promotion exercise and made case for what has happened in other state owned institutions without shortfall.
According to the release, ‘’JAC wishes to call on the College Management to stop any form of deductions from remittances of Cooperative Societies in the College. And the Societies of all the staffers in the College must henceforth be paid in full as and when due with full remittance to all Cooperative Societies.
JAC recognizes Engr. Seyi Makinde led administration as a worker friendly one that prioritizes the welfare of its workers. And we believe the administration would proffer a lasting solution to the salary impasse in EACOED.
‘’JAC is interested in preserving the industrial harmony being enjoyed across all the institutions and the body is more interested in complementing the efforts of this present government to take education to greater heights through qualitative and accessible education’’, the release submitted.
