The second term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received boost ahead of 2027 general elections as governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) formally endorsed him as the their sole candidate.
The Nation reports that endorsement came on Thursday during the APC National Summit ongoing at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, where the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) made a collective declaration of support for the President’s re-election bid.
The motion was moved by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and was seconded by Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

The move drew resounding applause from party faithful and key stakeholders present at the summit.
Speaking on behalf of the governors, Uzodimma reaffirmed their commitment to President Tinubu’s leadership and pledged to mobilise their states in support of his candidacy.

He described Tinubu’s ongoing reforms as bold and transformative, noting that they have laid the foundation for a more prosperous and inclusive Nigeria.
“We, the Progressive Governors, stand united in our resolve to support President Tinubu. We will work tirelessly to deliver our respective states for the APC in 2027”, Uzodimma declared.
The endorsement follows a similar vote of confidence recently passed by APC governors from the North-Central and the entire party in the Northwest, who commended Tinubu’s developmental achievements and efforts at fostering national cohesion.
