Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Muraina Saubana Ajibola, has highlighted his constituency projects, legislative interventions and empowerment programmes during and after his time in office as part of his record of service to Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.

THE EVIDENCE — A RECORD THAT SPEAKS
Political promises describe what a candidate intends to accomplish. A track record provides evidence of what that individual has already done when entrusted with responsibility.
For Hon. Muraina Saubana Ajibola, the case for renewed representation is therefore best examined through the evidence of his previous service.
Across his years in the House of Representatives, his record reflects interventions that reached communities, created educational and employment opportunities, provided infrastructure, supported individuals and institutions, and brought important constituency concerns before the Federal Government and the National Assembly.
That experience matters.
Effective representation requires more than recognizing the problems facing a constituency. It requires an understanding of the legislative process, knowledge of the institutions responsible for delivering public projects, the ability to engage those institutions effectively, and the persistence required to move community needs from concern to legislative attention, from legislative attention to institutional action, and ultimately from action to tangible outcomes for the people.
Hon. Muraina Saubana Ajibola has had the opportunity to serve in this capacity before. His ability, therefore, should not be judged solely on promises about what he may do in the future. There is an established record of service and representation that the people can examine and use to assess his capacity.
That record deserves to be considered carefully, across the different periods in which he had the privilege of representing the people of Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.
Ultimately, the strongest measure of a representative is not simply what is promised, but what has been demonstrated through previous service.

Capacity Building
● Vocational training for 250 constituents, with training materials and starter packs provided.
● Vocational training for 200 participants from the constituency in soap making, paint making and other vocations.
Sports Development
● Sponsoring of scintillating football competitions among private and public secondary schools across the constituency with fascinating rewards to the winners and all participating schools.
● Giving financial support to schools to purchase sporting facilities.
● Cash donations to private and public schools during their Annual Athletic Inter-House sports competitions.
Roads and Transportation
In addition to delivering key commuter facilities, his track record further encompasses the following accomplishments:
● 10KM Okeola Market to Idiyan Road, Igangan.
● Facilitation of the rehabilitation of Igboora–Eruwa Expressway — asphalt overlay by FERMA, as a fallout of a motion after Oko Oloyun’s assassination.
● Honourable Saubana Ajibola Muraina also used motions in the House of Representatives to pursue major road challenges affecting the area.
● Following his motion on the gruesome murder of Alhaji Fatai Yusuf, popularly known as Oko Oloyun, his track record identifies the following outcome:
a. FERMA carried out asphalt repair of the road in 2021.
b. On 25 November 2021, Honourable Saubana Ajibola Muraina moved: “Need to Extend the Lagos-Kano Standard Gauge Railway to Sanusu Railway Station Close to Igbo-Ora in Ibarapa Area of Oyo State.”
This reveals a broader dimension to his thinking about connectivity. While bus stops and roads respond to immediate transportation needs, pursuing an extension of the national standard-gauge railway towards Ibarapa points towards the larger possibilities of connecting the constituency to economic centres and national transportation networks.
Agriculture and Economic Support
● Facilitation of Federal Government grants to the Farmers and Artisans.
● Sponsoring of business registration with Corporate Affairs Commission.
● Giving cash incentives to traders across the constituency and aiding easy access to soft loans in Micro Finance Bank, Igboora.
● Distribution of agricultural inputs to the farmers across the constituency.
● Motivation of small-scale farmers and small and medium-scale business units for establishment and expansion.
Electricity and Power
Facilitating and following up on the ongoing construction of the 133KVA Transmission Stations at Igangan and Lanlate, and the changeover station at Igbo-Ora.
● Successfully moving motions for the construction of 33/11KVA Injection Substations at Igangan and Igbo-Ora, intended to maximise the output of the transmission infrastructure being developed in the area.
● Following up with relevant Federal Government agencies, including the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Federal Ministry of Power, on the electricity projects.
As a member of the House Committee on Power in the 9th National Assembly, Honourable Muraina Saubana Ajibola also highlighted his involvement in addressing obstacles threatening the completion of the transmission projects. These included:
• Compensation for Right of Way and affected landowners, which TCN substantially paid.
● Variations sought by contractors for additional works, including the special tower required for the projects.
● Measures following the fire outbreak at the Lanlate Transmission Station, with the contractor directed to bear the cost of replacing affected equipment.
● The need for enhanced Letters of Credit for the three contractors handling different aspects of the transmission and cabling projects.
Following these contributions, records shows that TCN directed the contractors to remobilise to their respective sites, although the contractor handling the Igangan Transmission Station had at the time raised security concerns about returning to site.
His community-level electricity achievements also included:
• Construction of Solar Street Lights from Igboora Central Mosque down to Ajegunle Market, Igboora.
• Construction of Solar Street Lights from Ajegunle Market in Igboora towards General Hospital, Igboora.
• Construction of Solar Street Light at Igangan, Ayete and Tapa.
• Cash donations to repair some faulty transformers in some areas across the constituency.
What makes this aspect of Honourable Muraina Saubana Ajibola’s record particularly relevant today is that the electricity problem has outlived his tenure. His previous efforts therefore should not be presented as though the challenge was solved. Instead, they establish something important about his capacity: when he had a seat in the House, he understood the scale of the problem, pursued community-level interventions, took the larger infrastructural need to the legislative floor, and engaged the federal institutions responsible for delivering it.
For a constituency still waiting for the full promise of reliable electricity, his return to the House would therefore present an opportunity not to begin the conversation afresh, but to take forward a struggle he had already invested legislative effort and institutional engagement in pursuing.
Youth Empowerment and Skills Development
For Honourable Muraina Saubana Ajibola, youth empowerment was not simply about providing temporary assistance. His achievement reflects an emphasis on practical skills, enterprise and self-employment—giving young people opportunities to develop capabilities they could translate into productive livelihoods.
This approach recognised an important reality: while formal employment remains desirable, it cannot be the only pathway available to young people. Creating opportunities must also mean equipping them to produce, build businesses and generate income independently.
● Seminar and empowerment programme on cassava cultivation, processing and modern marketing methods.
● Seminar on improved cashew cultivation and cashew nut exportation.
● Workshops/training and empowerment on fish production, processing, preservation and marketing.
● Workshop and empowerment of youths on capacity building and self-employment programmes.
● Seminar and empowerment on liquid soap and cosmetics production and marketing.
● Workshop and empowerment on paint production and marketing.
● Poultry production and associated value chain, including training and distribution of inputs and cash to trainees.
● Vocational Training and Empowerment of Unemployed Youths in Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North on beads making.
● Vocational Training and Empowerment of Unemployed Youths in Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North on catering and cream making.
● Training and Empowerment of Farmers in Poultry Production and Disease Control in Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.
His accomplishment also includes separate training programmes involving about 100 youths each in:
● Paint making.
● Chalk production, liquid soap and hand sanitizer.
● Beads making, cream making and perfume production.
● Agribusiness and export promotion.
What stands out is the amount of opportunity presented by these programmes. Agriculture, food production, cosmetics, catering, manufacturing skills and agribusiness each offered a different route through which young people could put their abilities to productive use.
In some cases, the support went beyond acquiring knowledge. The poultry-production programme, for instance, combined training with the distribution of inputs and cash to trainees, helping participants move from learning a skill towards putting that knowledge into practice.
This speaks to the thoughtfulness of Honourable Saubana Ajibola Muraina’s approach to representation. Empowerment, in his hands, was not merely about what could be given to young people, but about what they could be equipped to do for themselves.
That is the kind of representation that invests not only in the development of communities, but in the capacity of the people who will ultimately determine their future.
