A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Accord Party (AP) to recognise Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 election and forward his name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) so the election body can upload it to its portal as required.

Justice Mohammed Umar issued the order on Monday while delivering judgment in suit FHC/ABJ/CS/1268/2026, filed by Olawepo-Hashim.
Justice Umar held that AP was wrong to fail to recognise the plaintiff as its presidential candidate and forward his name to INEC after the party collected N50 million from him for the nomination and expression of interest forms.

The judge held that, against the political party’s claim, evidence showed that Olawepo-Hashim emerged as its sole presidential candidate after a primary it held on May 30.
