A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ‘Lowo Obisesan Esq has shared insights why the senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Buhari AbduFatai Omotayo, PhD lost gubernatorial ticket of the party to Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obisesan Esq, a former Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources under late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, while sharing his views on socio-political programme anchored by Kunle Anifowose on Splash FM, on Thursday said political scheming to bring neutral candidate among gladiators favoured Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli ahead of Senator AbduFatai Buhari and others.
The APC chieftain said party leaders at the state and national level don’t want a candidate that will give them more problems to solve in terms of uniting members together. He revealed that the party would have plunged itself into a serious crisis if either Senator Teslim Folarin or Chief Adebayo Adelabu emerged as the party’s governorship candidate.

Barr Lowo Obisesan reiterated that both Senator Folarin and Chief Adelabu have flown the party’s ticket in 2019 and 2023 respectively. He described former Minister of Power, Chief Adelabu as one of the few politicians whose party odds favoured in 2019 to contest the governorship election in Oyo State.
Barr Obisesan said the sudden aggrieved friendship between Senator Folarin and Chief Adelabu was just for politics. He maintained that if either Senator Folarin or Adelabu clinched the party’s ticket, the friendship won’t exist.

Barr Obisesan while revealing further while Senator Buhari lost out Oyo APC gubernatorial ticket said region or political zone Buhari comes from didn’t favour him. He detailed that the leadership of the party were conscious and studying the political move of Governor Makinde where he will pick his successor. Barr Obisesan said it would have been technical knockout for APC if it picked governorship candidate outside Ibadan and Governor Makinde’s successor comes from Ibadan. He emphasized that Ibadan voting strength accounts for about 62 per cent. He reiterated that no political party will toy with such obvious strength.
Barr Obisesan said he felt deeply pained that Senator Buhari with his outstanding achievement couldn’t get the Oyo APC gubernatorial ticket and won’t be returning to the National Assembly.
While reacting to the choice of Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli by the party, he described Senator Alli as a perfect gentleman, highly generous, humble personality and a uniting figure with political structures across 33 LGAs in Oyo State. He assured that APC crisis will end before the governorship elections in 2027.

Barr Obisesan while answering questions about the environmental outlook of Oyo State said he wasn’t happy with the reality on the ground. He said the bar of Ministry of Environment was raised during the late Abiola Ajimobi regime.
