Gov Seyi Makinde

Sometimes ago, I wrote a story titled: ” Babylon Is Crumbling”. I tried to let the public know that, despite Governor Makinde’s pretence and public display of confidence, all is not well with him. I remember, I pointed to the silent but persistent invitations being extended to officials of the Oyo State Government by different anti-corruption agencies and the fact that one or two of the invited officials had eloped.

Gov Seyi Makinde

At that time, the relationship between Governor Makinde and Oriyomi Hamzat has not broken down completely. It is no longer news, however, that the relationship between the duo has become that of a predatory cat and an endangered mouse.

Governor Makinde’s Empire will continue to crumble until it finally crashes. If you watched that very popular Korean film titled Jumong, you will, perhaps understand what I am trying to say here.

Geum Wa, the King of Buyeo received a Prophecy from a legendary Priestess that Jumong, a fostered Prince was bound to establish a new Kingdom. Geum Wa was not pleased with that prophecy but he was told in plain terms that his Kingdom will continue to deteriorate until it finally got erased from the face of the earth.

Even, our fathers also believe that there are some fate that could not be avoided. ( Ko si ohun to nba Agba ninu je bii Ifa ti a da ti ko ni etutu). I am not a Prophet of doom but like Chinua Achebe said, when you bring ant infested faggots into your hut, you will receive lizards as visitors.

Through a consistent record of betrayals, selfishness and self admitted stubbornness, the Governor of Oyo state has brought ant infested faggots into his luxurious residence, he can not avoid the visitation by lizards.

Just yesterday, I got information about another set of lizards that have started crawling towards the residence at the Oyo State Governor. Governor Seyi Makinde’s Advisory Council is allegedly in crisis and the Governor doesn’t want the public to know about this disturbing facts.

I was further informed that one of the members, Barr. Michael Lana, had allegedly turned in his resignation letter dated May 21 and the status of at least another three of the members remain in conflict. According to the information I received, it was alleged that Senator Gbenga Babalola might also be on his way out of the Advisory Council, just as Hon. Adebukola Ajaja, a prominent member of the Accord. In fact, I was surprised to hear that the woman, Hon. Ajaja is a member of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Advisory Council.

Honestly, I am not sure of that particular information but if it is true that she is a member of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Advisory Council, then, we might begin to fathom where the rain actually started beating Oriyomi Hamzat.

” Gbadamosi and Aibuki”!

Since a lot of things around Governor Seyi Makinde’s Government are shrouded in mysteries, I will conduct further investigation about Hon. Ahaja’s status in the Governor’s Advisory Council. Now, you will be wondering, what could be the bone of contention between Governor Makinde’s wise men?

According to the information given to me, it was alleged that crisis erupted amongst members of the Council because of the manner the Chairman of the Advisory Council handled the assignment of the screening and selection of Governor Seyi Makinde’s successor.

It was alleged that the Chairman of the Advisory Council, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, SAN did not allow other members of the Council to view the final reports of the screening exercise conducted for gubernatorial aspirants under the PDP/APM Alliance before single handedly submitted a copy to the Governor.

The other members of the Advisory Council are allegedly angry with the Chairman whom they are accusing of not submitting the report duly signed by them to the Governor. It was further alleged that the other members are allegedly suspecting that the Chairman submitted another copy which has the name of Bimbo Adekanmbi on top of the pack contrary to the ratings of the Committee.

It is alleged that all has not been well within the Advisory Council as members are feeling let down by the way the screening and selection exercise of Bimbo Adekanmbi went. You will recollect that a very close ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, Egbon Ismaila Ashipa, through a Facebook post actually alluded to the allegations above.

He was of the opinion that Bimbo Adekanmbi is actually the candidate of Seye Famojuro. The same Seye Famojuro. The Ijesa man whose roles in Governor Seyi Makinde’s Government remains undefined. So, I can not be surprised if I hear of allegations that the processes which led to the nomination of Adekanmbi were rigged.

I have always maintained this fact and I stand firmly by it, the nomination of Adekanmbi will do Governor Makinde more harm than good.

Honestly, I will be surprised if any of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Advisory Council actually thought that they could influence the Governor against his personal decisions. Governor Makinde is not that type of person. He didn’t set up the Advisory Council to oppose his opinions and decisions. The Advisory Council is a child of necessity and I expected every member to have known that.

I will continue my investigation into this fresh civil war brewing inside Governor Makinde’s Empire and I’m sure that in the fullness of time, everything shall be revealed.

Sola Abegunde.
