Dr. Ololade Usman Bakare, a global digital transformation and cybersecurity consultant and prominent Ibadan indigene, has officially launched the “ÌGBÈGÀ OYỌ” initiative, a social and democratic movement focused on creating a future that works for everyone through inclusive development programs in education, healthcare, and empowerment.
Speaking as the host of the Ololade Usman Bakare Foundation (OUBF) Post-Ramadan Lecture at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday, March 22, 2026, the Oyo State APC gubernatorial aspirant said that leadership is not a pursuit of power, but a sacred trust (Amanah) rooted in justice and service to humanity.
In a widely-applauded address to a formidable assembly of royal fathers, scholars, and community leaders, Dr. Bakare, a respected public advocate whose life journey reflects a genuine commitment to service, innovation, and the advancement of secured digital governance, emphasized that the discipline of the recently concluded Ramadan must serve as the blueprint for governance. Drawing from the timeless legacies of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, he noted that while a society can endure disbelief, it cannot survive injustice. “The weak among you shall be strong with me until I secure their rights,” he said, quoting Abu Bakr As-Siddiq to underscore his commitment to the vulnerable.

Dr. Bakare has years of frontline experience protecting critical systems and shaping national conversations on digital safety; he brings a rare combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people-centered leadership to his gubernatorial aspiration in Oyo State. As an indigene of Ibadan, Usman has supported individuals through scholarship programs, payment of school fees, and other forms of assistance to achieve a result-oriented future through the initiative. The newly inaugurated ÌGBÈGÀ OYỌ Initiative (meaning “Upliftment and Progress”) is specifically structured to provide free humanitarian services for the well-being of the needy while empowering the youth through digital and entrepreneurial skills. Dr. Bakare’s foundation has a decade-long track record of helping the less privileged in Oyo State overcome systemic challenges, a legacy he now seeks to scale through this inclusive development movement. He urged that the consciousness of Allah (Taqwa) instilled during the fast be carried into every aspect of public office to tackle youth unemployment and infrastructure deficits.
Beyond local development, Dr. Bakare emerged as a champion for national stability, asserting that Nigerians and the world need good governance that unites Muslims, promotes Islam, and spreads the universality of its true message. He made a passionate call for unity among Nigerians irrespective of religious affiliations, urging Muslims and Christians to embrace peaceful coexistence as the foundational pillar for building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Sen.) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, CFR, served as Royal Father of the day while Sheikh Abdul-Ganiy Agbotomokekere was the Spiritual Father of the Day. Distinguished speakers, including Hon. (Dr.) Abdulhakeem Abdullateef and Shaykh AbdurRahman Ahmad, echoed Dr. Bakare’s call for a return to the principles of justice (Adl) and consultation (Shura).
