The Adayeba Culture-Tourism Foundation, in collaboration with the Oyo State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, organizers of the World Egungun Festivals, has honoured the Okanlomo Oodua and Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, with the prestigious title of World Cultural Ambassador ahead of the 2026 edition of the globally acclaimed festival.

The honour was formally conveyed during a courtesy visit by the festival organizers, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, to Chief Sanusi at his expansive tourism and hospitality hub, Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Ibadan.

While receiving the delegation, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his sustained commitment to cultural revitalisation and the promotion of Yoruba heritage on the global stage. He also acknowledged the transformative contributions of Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun in repositioning the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as a key driver of cultural preservation and tourism development in Oyo State.

In his remarks, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun praised Chief Sanusi’s unwavering commitment to cultural renaissance and his strategic investments in tourism and heritage promotion. He formally presented a symbolic award to Chief Sanusi, confirming his appointment as World Cultural Ambassador, in anticipation of the World Cultural Awards, scheduled to hold on May 1st and 2nd, 2026, in Ibadan.

The World Egungun Festival remains one of Africa’s most celebrated cultural showcases, attracting global attention and reinforcing Ibadan’s status as a centre of Yoruba history, spirituality, and cultural excellence.
