A couple of days ago, I did an x-ray of the interview by Oyo Peoples Democratic Party, PDP spokesperson, Michael Ogunsina on Bayo Faleke’s TV Africana.
I deliberately decided not to elaborate on a part of his closing remarks, most especially, his veiled attacks on the personality of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and for tactical reasons.
When I was doing that piece, I had credible Intel that Governor Seyi Makinde is in Abuja, trying to meet with the president.
I, however concluded my thoughts on the critic of his interview by saying that when Governor Seyi Makinde would make a 360 degree turn around to embrace those individuals Michael Ogunsina was sweating profusely to denigrate, people like him will have no choice but to eat their words and shamefully go out to defend Governor Makinde’s inconsistencies.
Michael Ogunsina, in his closing remarks said Governor Makinde is very qualified to be the president of Nigeria.

He is correct and you can’t fault him for saying that. Governor Makinde is eminently qualified to contest for the position of the Nigerian president.
However, in his usual reckless manner, he went ahead and started saying that Governor Makinde’s is far better and more qualified than ‘ those whose school mates and academic records remain a mystery’.
By saying that, I think all of us know what the Oyo PDP PRO was insinuating. Unfortunately, for Michael Ogunsina and those who used to take Governor Makinde serious when he was saying all manner of things against president Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde is reported to have met with president Tinubu today at the Aso Rock Villa.
You would want to say that there is nothing wrong with a state Governor meeting with the president. You are right but what Governor Makinde said after meeting with the president is the issue. I have seen quite a lot of reactions about the visit of Governor Seyi Makinde to the Villa.
People are entitled to their opinion and life itself is about perception but for me, this present visit will do Governor Makinde more harm than good.
Why do I say so?
I saw a short video of his interview when he left the Villa and I saw that he was struggling to make a point about his visit to the president.
I can understand why he was like that. No matter how he or his lickspittles might want to paint it, Governor Makinde’s visit to the Villa portrays him as someone whose words must not be taken seriously.
The kind of man who, if he says he is going to Abeokuta from Ibadan, you could eventually find him at Ilorin. Those Yorubas refer to as ‘ a ba ni soro ma loo kunna’. ( A man not to be trusted).
When he was asked if he also would be leaving the PDP, he answered ‘ No. No. I’m comfortable in the PDP’. Then, he started talking about ”bipartisanship” without giving details. I hope everyone who is educated knows what bipartisanship means.
Before today, Governor Seyi Makinde was very firm and resolute about his criticisms of the Tinubu Administration. An Administration he labeled as the harbinger of all evil in Nigeria.
He was emphatic about the fact that he is not perturbed about the Governors of the opposition who have been defecting to the APC. He said he would only be disturbed when hunger defects to the APC. When he was talking like that, you would say, oh! A champion of the masses. Won’t you?
Yes, after meeting with the president, he claimed that he is comfortable in the PDP but in the same breath, he started talking about bipartisanship.
Now, Governor Makinde, please explain yourself. Give us details. You can’t go into the Villa as a diehard critic of Tinubu and come out to lecture us about bipartisanship without telling us what has changed.
What got you confused that you no longer talk about hunger and you suddenly discovered that certain circumstances require bipartisan approach? As how?
Or, has hunger now defected to the APC? The other time in 2023, when Governor Makinde and the G-5 acted a bipartisan script, we all know what happened. I have said so a long time ago. Governor Seyi Makinde is just like a cornered rat.
All the time he was talking tough, calling the president all manner of names, he was just shaking the tables and asking for attention.
Those who saw him as one supernatural personality and a championship of the masses should now see that he is just a man who is desperately looking for survival.
Unfortunately for the Governor, the tables have turned and just as he always say, the gubernatorial election of 2027 is going to be decided by the people and no shoddy deals from anywhere will change the equation.
The husband of the local liquor seller is no longer deceived by his wife’s constant excuses. ( Oni mo nlo gba agbe, ola, mo nlo gba agbe, Oko Oloti ti too gbon).
Like I have said earlier, some of us have been waiting to see him eat his words regarding Tinubu.
We knew it is just a matter of time. ( Ni koleji ekun, ni koleji ekun, aja o ni debe loo kawe, ni koleji ekun).
The dog will dare not hunt in a jungle where the Tiger is king. It is not yet time to fully go after Governor Makinde. We will keep tracking him and when he can no longer deny the fact that he has gone back to consume his vomit, he will have us to contend with.
Like I said at the beginning of this piece, the job of people like Michael Ogunsina and the Governor’s SA Media are now made more difficult but what can they do?
May we not serve a master who doesn’t care about our dignity and if we found ourselves in such an unpleasant situation, may we have the courage to choose our dignity over our belly.
Honestly, I pity the few people who are still looking up to the Governor Makinde for their political aspirations in 2027.
When a man is burning, can he have time to save his beards? The forest has caught fire, the hatchlings of the bush fowl have been dispersed. ( Ina ti so omo aparo di eyo). The one who led them on a road to perdition is struggling to save himself.
How could he save anyone? I am very curious. The whole world heard Governor Seyi Makinde’s allegations against Nyesom Wike. He said Wike promised to hold the PDP down for President Tinubu and that is why he was angry with him.
What will Makinde do with the carcass of the PDP in his care? In fulfilment of a by partisan politics, has he also agreed to hold the PDP down for President Tinubu? The coming days will be so revealing. Immediately I saw that short interview of Governor Seyi Makinde, I remembered the dream I had a long time ago.
I also looked at all the brouhaha about a PDP National Convention in Ibadan. Is it all in vanity? Just a strategy for survival? I remember that Fayose said so. I will begin to practice on the Bata Drum beginning from tomorrow. If you don’t know, I used to be fairly good on the Bata Drum but it’s been a while now that I have the time to practice. I only need to master a rhythm. ‘Ogulutu ko nu omi ara ro o’. The effigy meets it’s demise the day it is submerged in water. If only I could master the above rhythm, I would be good. Someone would need to hear from me very soon.
