The Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Environment, on Wednesday, 24th December, 2025, sealed a premium edible outlet in Ibadan after uncovering environmental health infractions during an enforcement exercise.
The operation was carried out by the Oyo State Ministry of Environment Task Force, led by Environmental Health Officers of the Ministry, as part of the state government’s continuous efforts to safeguard public health and enforce environmental sanitation and food safety regulations.

During the inspection, the task force discovered that the affected food outlet failed to comply with approved environmental health standards. The observed infractions included poor hygiene practices, improper waste disposal, and unsafe environmental conditions capable of endangering public health. Confirming the development, Mrs. Areo, a Director in the Ministry of Environment, made the information available to journalists in Ibadan. She explained that the sealing of the facility was carried out strictly in line with existing environmental and public health laws of Oyo State.

Mrs. Areo emphasized that the enforcement action was not targeted at any individual or business owner but was aimed solely at protecting consumers and ensuring a clean and healthy environment across the state.

She added that the Ministry would continue to intensify routine monitoring and enforcement activities.She further appealed to members of the general public, particularly operators of food and edible businesses, to cooperate fully with the government, comply with environmental health regulations, and support ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability and public safety.
