A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC and former Deputy National Youth Leader of the party, Mr. Bolaji Afeez Repete has cautioned Oyo state government led by Engr Seyi Makinde to stop the falsehood circulating around Ibadan Circular Road corridor.

Repete, who served under the administration of late former governor as Special Adviser on Youth and Sports emphasized that late Governor Ajimobi reversed extension of corridor from 500metre on each side to 150metre.

Repete urged the current administration to stop the falsehood against his late boss who prioritised development of modern Oyo state without inflicting pains on populace.

Repete made the strong clarifications while speaking with pressmen yesterday.

FreshPage reports that residents of Oyo State affected by the extension of circular road corridor to 500metre in the six local government areas; Oluyole, Ona-Ara, Egbeda, Lagelu, Akinyele and Ido have been protesting since Monday to register their displeasure to  Oyo State government.

FRESHPAGE  recalls that the idea of Ibadan circular road was conceived by the current Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja when he was the governor in 2005.

It was learnt that Ladoja marked 150 metres for the construction of the road while late Governor Ajimobi awarded the project before he left office in 2019.

The current government claimed that Ajimobi extended the length of the road and that Makinde is acting on what he met on ground when he took over from Ajimobi.

But, Repete countered the claim that his late principal did not extend the length of the road.

The APC chieftain noted that Ajimobi attempted to add an additional 350 metres but he stopped it when the people protested against it in 2016.

“Ajimobi initially increased the length but he reversed to what he met on ground when the people protested in 2016. So, when Makinde came on board, he met 150 metres. That is the position.

“Ajimobi met 150 metres and he added 350, but when people protested, he returned back to the original 150 metres. That was in 2016.

“It was Ajimobi that awarded the contract before Seyi Makinde revoked it. Ajimobi started it”.
