The Yoruba Youth Council (YYC), alongside concerned Yoruba youths across the South-West, has expressed heartfelt solidarity with global boxing icon and proud son of Yoruba land, Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua, while also extending deep condolences to the family of his deceased associates affected by the recent tragic incident.
In a statement released on behalf of Yoruba youths, the National Publicity Secretary of the Council, Ogbeni Ajibode Abdulkabir, described the incident as deeply painful and unfortunate, while offering prayers for Anthony Joshua’s fast and full recovery. He noted that moments such as this call for compassion, restraint, and collective prayers for the repose of the departed souls and comfort for the grieving families.

The Council emphasized that Anthony Joshua has consistently demonstrated admirable character, discipline, humility, and responsibility throughout his career, earning him respect both at home and internationally. The Yoruba youths therefore urged the public to allow facts and due process to guide all discussions surrounding the incident.
“Anthony Joshua remains a source of immense pride to Yoruba land and a worthy ambassador of Nigeria to the world. We stand firmly with him in prayers during this period of medical attention. At the same time, our hearts are with the bereaved family in this moment of grief. We pray for strength, healing, and justice,” the statement read.
The Yoruba Youth Council further called on youths and the general public to refrain from speculation, misinformation, and inflammatory narratives, stressing the importance of unity, empathy, and respect for the rule of law.
The Council concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of the departed, comfort for the bereaved family, and wisdom for all parties involved as the situation unfolds.
