Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, has provided further updates over the successful rescue of teachers and students from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Onanuga through his verified x-handle said during the rescue operation, eight of the kidnappers were arrested and are now in DSS custody. He added that some of kidnappers were neutralised.

“There was no quid pro quo in the rescue as one of the terrorists, a kingpin, that the kidnappers demanded his release, is being prosecuted for his atrocities”.
Onanuga said the security agencies will give full account soon.

FreshPage reports that rescued victims were abducted 55 days ago where a teacher and another person were killed during the process.
Another teacher was killed while in captivity which made NUT declare closure of all secondary and primary schools in the State.
