The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, mni, FAS, Presidential member, and a member of the Steering Committee of the U7+ Universities attended the sixth annual U7+ Presidential Summit held at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, on April 11-12, 2024.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, Presidential Delegate and Member of the Bureau, Professor Oluyemisi Bamgbose, SAN.

Professor Adebowale is one of the seven members of the Steering Committee of the Alliance, and he presented a paper titled “Inclusive Education for Inclusive Societies”

At the Summit, U7+ Presidents and Vice-Chancellors discussed critical global issues in alignment with the themes of the 2024 G7 Summit, to be hosted in Italy.

Key themes included inclusive education for inclusive societies, climate change, and sustainability.

The presidents of 46 U7+ universities, including Professor Adebowale, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, have formally committed to the U7+ 2024 Declaration on Global Access to Higher Education.

The document was presented to Anna Maria Bernini, the Italian Minister of Higher Education and Research, on April 11, in her role as the representative of the Italian government, which is hosting this year’s G7 summit.
