The University of Ibadan Senate has appointed Ibadan man and Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Adebola Ekanola as the Acting Vice-Chancellor pending the time the crisis resounding the appointment of new VC is resolved.
The decision to appoint acting VC became necessary after the Ministry of Education through the National Universities Commission directed Senate of the University of Ibadan to select one of none aspirants to the office of the VC.
The process which took hours before Senate modalities it will select acting VC.
Five professors who have administrative experience were nominated for the election. They were Professor Adebola Ekanola (Current DVC Academic), Prof. Olanike Adeyemo (DVC, Research Innovation and Strategic Partnerships), Prof. Adigun Agbaje (former DVC Academic), Prof. Gbemisola Oke (former DVC, Academic) Prof. Oluleye (former Dean, Faculty of Technology)
After accreditation and voting of candidate into the position of acting VC through secret ballot.
The result of the election reveals:
Professor Adebola Ekanola =275 votes
Professor Oluleye = 80 votes
Prof. Adigun Agbaje = 15 votes
Prof. Gbemisola Oke =14 votes
Prof. Olanike Adeyemo = 13 votes
