The programme is currently training 300 NYSC Corps members from Mechanical, Automotive and Electrical Engineering backgrounds across six states; FCT, Kano, Adamawa, Enugu, Edo and Lagos.

The goal of the scheme is to equip young Nigerians with practical skills in CNG conversion technology and prepare them for opportunities in Nigeria’s growing gas-powered mobility sector.

The programme is being implemented through strong collaboration between the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, National Automotive Design and Development Commission (NADDC), National Youth Service Corps and Presidential Initiative on CNG and Electric Vehicles (PiCNG&EV).

As the programme expands across the country, Dr Gbadamosi said it will put Nigerian youths at the centre of the nation’s economic transformation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

She maintained that CNG retrofitting programme is another step towards giving Nigerian youths the skills and opportunities they need to take part in Nigeria’s growing CNG and automotive sector.
