With an estimated installed power capacity of 13,000 MW, Nigeria struggles to deliver even 5,000 MW consistently to a population of over 200 million.

These countries are global leaders in solar power — Germany alone produces over 12% of its electricity from solar energy and has created hundreds of thousands of jobs in the sector.

Job Creation: According to IRENA, for every 1 MW of solar installed, around 5.65 full-time jobs are created. Scaling up to 10,000 MW could generate over 56,000 jobs in manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and training.

Foreign Exchange Retention: Local production of solar panels would reduce import bills and conserve Nigeria’s forex reserves.
