The Minister of Power, Mr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe has reinstated Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by targeting 23 Mini-Grids across 15 States of the federation under Africa Mini-Grids Programme (AMP), Nigeria Pilot Project.

Tegbe made this known on Thursday during the launch of the project. He stated that the milestone recorded by Ministry is driven by Rural Electrification Agency (REA), UNDP and Global Environment Facility (GEF). Tegbe assured that the project when completed would bring power to roughly 20,000 households and over 50,000 Nigerians.

The Minister stated that the project isn’t just about lighting bulbs. He stated that in places like Namu, Plateau State, the mini-grids are powering agro-processing, growing incomes, and building local economies from the ground up.

“Renewable Energy is not an alternative to our national grid, it is an integral part of Nigeria’s power architecture. We’re deploying the right technology for the right community, because every Nigerian deserves reliable, affordable power, wherever they live.

“And we’re not stopping here. Phase two will deliver even more mini-grids to power over 50,000 households and micro-businesses.

“To Nigerians watching the national grid work: I hear you. What was neglected for 50 years won’t be fixed in six months, but we are fixing it. Rehabilitating the grid, building off-grid assets, strengthening the network. In a short while, will see a real improvement in electricity supply. That is my commitment to you, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR”
