The University of Ibadan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of a Talent Innovation Hub for UI students.

The ceremony took place in the Vice-Chancellor’s office and it was presided over by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor E. O. Ayoola on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Ayoola noted that the importance of the interventions that the MOU will provide cannot be over emphasised. He assured that the University of Ibadan will derive maximum benefits from the Understanding.

The Senior Advisor who represented UNDP, Dr William Tsuma said the UNDP believes that the universities have the resources to overcome the challenges facing every nation.

He said the MOU seeks to amplify the innovation capabilities of UI students, facilitate the transfer of digital technology and entrepreneurship skills and competences to enable them contribute meaningfully to national development.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, Professor Oluyemisi Bamgbose, SAN, commended the efforts of a UI alumnus, Mr Emeka Ossai, Founder of Campus Hub, for facilitating the collaboration.

The MOU among other purposes, will broker Strategic Partnerships; catalyse high level policy engagement that connects and links private sector; and contribute to the empowerment, advancement and longevity of young student entrepreneurs by providing physical space for co-creation, collaboration, coaching and mentorship.
