A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo State, Ololade Usman Bakare, has assumed a new role as Patron of Isokan Omo Ibadan Ponbele. The emergence of cyber security expert will further strengthening his connection with community development, cultural values and the promotion of unity among indigenes of Ibadan.
Executive members of Isokan Omo Ibadan Ponbele under the leadership of Alhaji Adegoke Adeshina as President, Alhaji Mubarak Babatunde lshola as Vice President among others unveiled Bakare as Patron of the Social Club on Friday, August 21, 2026 at the Jubilee Hall, Molete, Ibadan.
Bakare, a gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State at the recently concluded APC primaries was accompanied by political stakeholders, friends and members of Igbega Oyo Initiative to the venue of the event.

The appointment Bakare is widely seen as a recognition of his commitment to the growth and progress of society, as well as his support for initiatives that promote togetherness, mutual respect and the preservation of Ibadan’s rich heritage.
As Patron, Bakare is expected to bring his experience, leadership qualities and extensive network to bear on the activities of Isokan Omo Ibadan Ponbele. His role will also provide an opportunity to encourage younger generations to appreciate the history, traditions and values that have shaped Ibadan over the years, since the period of Lagelu, Oderinlo, Ogunmola among others.
The development comes at a time when there is increasing emphasis on collaboration among community leaders, political stakeholders and grassroots organisations to advance social and economic development across Oyo State.
Bakare’s acceptance of the patron demonstrates his willingness to identify with organisations working to promote the interests of the people and foster peaceful coexistence. It also reflects the importance of building bridges across political, social and community lines.
